C-section I just had my first litter of 5 siberian husky. I was a wreck anticipating their arrival. Luckily everything turn out fine and they are healthy and mommy is healthy. Now I found out that my yorkie is pregnant. With all the horror stories I read about yorkie needing C-sections to give birth, I worry for my Mercy. She is 6-7lb. So i'm here how often do yorkies needing C-section. I'm sure someone in here will have an answer for me. Also I have another female yorkie 4lb and I'm so reluctant to breed her as I think she is too small to breed. My stud is 6-7lbs also. So please voice your advice to me... thank you... SEXC out.

Since she is a bigger yorkie i think there are less posibilities of the need of a c-section. There are breeders here in the forum that have more experience and I am sure can help you better. Welcome to Yorkie Talk

You can never tell. A 7 pound Yorkie can need a c-section. They are nothing in whelping like a sibe. Your safest bet is to X-Ray at 56 days or so to check on the pups and size. I would never breed a 4 pound female.

c-section I would not be too concerned about the 7 pounder..if I had an after hour vet who knows Yorkies..an xray as CC posted. If there is more then one large pup all should be fine as long as you on on the ball. I have read that 50% free whelp with no help, 25% need some assitance and 25% need vet intervention. I would not beed the 4 pounder to such a large male...breeding her would be dtermined by her frame..is she a 4 pound girl on a 4 pound frame..? It takes two finger wideths measurements between the anus and vulva to be adequate room for the head to move through the pelvic opening..so I am told...but I seen 3 finger lengths room and the pup refuses to come out with strong contractions..not for the faith of heart.
