| Hair growth? I feel like my Yorkie's hair isn't growing long enough. He's almost 8 months old, so I don't know if it's an issue yet. And it does grow out when he get's a haircut, but it's not getting all nice and long like it should be. I heard there is special kind of food to promote hair growth. I'm not feeding him anything like that but I do get high quality food from a specialty store. He is a parti-carrier. Would that have something to do with it? Or is he just not old enough yet? | Emma's hair doesn't grow fast too...it varies from yorkie to yorkie. Carmel, on the other hand, has tons of hair...

| But will it get all nice and long or should I expect it to stay short-ish? |

| Well, you just don't have to groom her except for butt hair and some face hair. That's how it is with Emma. The hair will grow out, esp right now your baby just has her puppy coat, it will grow into adult coat eventually. As for length, just let it grow out and it should be fine. I have attached a picture of her for you so you can see. We never cut her hair and that's how long it is...She's almost 2 and it's still not much longer...

| Thanks. I guess I'll just let him grow his coat and wait. It just gets annoying sometimes when people think he's a yorkie mix and not a full-blooded yorkie because he's a different color and the hair isn't too long yet. Your doggie is super cute by the way!

| Thanks! Oh, my Carmel is also a parti carrier yorkie. Here's a picture of him! Did you see the parents of your baby? What colors were they? What kind of coat did they have? You can usually derive your baby's coat from that...Pip is a cutie tho!!

| No I didn't see the parents unfortunately. He was a Christmas gift so I didn't get to do all of that picking out a puppy and looking at different breeders and the parent dogs and stuff. I do want to make a trip out there sometime though and hopefully have a look at the parents if possible.

| Fido had floor length coat at only 6 months of age, so I dont know It is soooo fast growing, grows about 2 centimeters a month now , when he was a pup it grew much faster, it has slow down the hairgrowth after i shaved him several times.

| Teddy is the same way! His hair grows fast (almost too fast). He is 6.5 months and has already been to the groomers twice!

| It all depends on his genetics. You have to know the parent and grandparents, and maybe g-gandparents to know if they will have a good coat. By this age mine usually have quite a bit of coat and getting close to the floor. |

| Maybe it's a red legged yorkie, but it doesn't look it to me from the photo, however jenn thumbnail looks like a red legged to me. I have had two red legged and it's much less grooming for sure, my shaffer needed two or three trips to the spa while fife didn't need to go as often but always went because I like them to go together. If I had a choice I like the red legged yorkies |
