| yorkie loosing his teeth at 5 yrs old!!! I just brushed my toy yorkie's teeth and noticed he's lost one already and another one is loose. I don't brush his teeth regularly but i feed him only holistic dog food and no table food at all. Will they grow back? |

| At five years old they were almost certainly adult teeth. No, they won't grow back. The vet needs to pull the loose ones and any others that look to be a problem on xray. Time for a vet visit and a dental under anesthesia.

| Once they lose their adult teeth, they're gone. You just need to be diligent in taking care of the ones he has left. If a tooth is diseased, it is far better for the dog's health for it to be gone, than remain in the mouth where it can cause infections and other problems.

| Most Yorkies require dentals every 6 months to a year when minimal homecare is given (owners just try to get out of it). Brushing at least once a day can be very good for the teeth and gums, but dentals will still be needed in most cases (maybe just longer spans in between them). If teeth are loose/falling out, the mouth is very likely diseased and veterinary attention is absolutely necessary. Dentals are part of routine dog care. If dental disease is not taken care of, it can lead to organ dysfunction (heart, liver, lung, kidney issues..). Since this pup is having loosening issues, there are probably gum issues (periodontal disease). Nothing you do at home can fix it.

| I guess i'll have to book an appointment at the vet and hopefully it'll be a quick fix. Will they clean the rest of the good teeth? |

| Yes, they do a cleaning and pull the bad ones (hopefully after xraying). Give a good homecare program a go after the cleaning, but know that cleaning every 6-24 months will likely be necessary.
