Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Limited ingredient diet and food texture We're trying Tallulah on a limited ingredient diet to see if it can help control her diarrhea. Only problem is that Tallulah seems to be very picky about the texture of her food. She likes chunky, stew-type textures and turns up her nose at ground foods. I noticed this when I was feeding her home-cooked chicken and rice -- if I blended it fairly smooth, she wouldn't eat it, but if I left it unblended, she would gobble it up. I've checked out a couple of LE foods and they were ground up. The tech at my vet's office says all the ones she's seen are like that. Anybody know of a line of LE foods that are not ground? |

| So you mean canned? The ones that are in one big chunk of the same texture and the ones with pieces in juice? The rx are probably all going to be the one texture ground. Did you check Natural Balance? What about kibble? You can do an LE homecooked diet or were you trying to get away from that?

| How limited are we talking? I sometimes use merrick Grammys pot pie which is stew like and doesn't have tons of ingredients, although it isn't a true LE food. All the real LE foods I have tried are ground.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Dr. wants Tallulah to try a totally different protein source than she's been eating - so we're transitioning her to venison and potatoes. I'm willing to home cook if I can ensure she gets all the nutrients she needs -- except I'm not sure I can handle cooking Bambi. Tallulah loves the Merrick and Blue Buffalo stews -- but they didn't help with the diarrhea situation. |

| Will she eat the food cold? If you leave the 'ground up' food in the fridge and let it congeal, then just cut it up in chunks....would she eat it then? Save you from having to 'find' bambi if you dont already have venison in your freezer. maybe you could cook some potatoes, cut them into little chunks, and add them to the already congealed LE chunks for variety? Good luck and hope she outgrows this bout of diarrhea. |

| Blue Buffalo recently came out with LI in canned food. I have only seen it available at Petsmart. I feed my furbaby BB LI dry. Hope this helps! |

| I maybe late on this but have you tried plain pumpkin? or eevn raw? I was going to try a can/ kibble diet for my girls becuase I was concerned using raw and concern about spoilage when we go on vacation. started slowly and they both got runs. I had to put them back on raw with pumpkin and plain lowfat yogurt. They cleared up after a couple of days. Before that they never had a problem. Their little tummies can't handle the kibble. Good luck |
