| Iams versus Solid Gold Brandy used to eat Iams but after reading Yorkie Talk, I switched her to Solid Gold. Now she has bad breath. She never did on the Iams. Don't know what to do. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a better dog food that won't give her bad breath? Thanks for the help. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Bad breath is usually a sign of teeth issues. I would schedule an appointment with your vet. Depending on how old she is, she could be retaining her puppy teeth. Right before Taycie was spayed I started noticing a smell on her breath as well. I had her remaining puppy teeth pulled and the smell went away instantly.

| Actually I can add my opinion. I've noticed that Cooper's breath hasn't been smelling so fresh. I recently changed his food (for other issues) and found that once I took him off Life's Abundance and put him on Fromm that his breath started to smell much better! I was nervous it was his teeth, but his teeth look fine.

| Like others have said, if she's a puppy then she may have some retaining puppy teeth that need to come out. Dental health is extremely important especially in yorkies since they're so prone to teeth issues. It's never too early to start brushing their teeth, even if it's at least once a week. I've heard of people having issues with teeth on lower grade foods but typically not higher grade foods, but then again all dogs are different so it could be that the Solid Gold just happens to trigger something that's giving her bad breath. You may try switching her food if you really want, but I would maybe try speaking to your vet first. |

| Brandy is a year and a half. She had her baby canines pulled a few months ago. I might try changing brands just to see. She will eat anything so I am not concerned about her turning up her nose at something new. |
