| HELP !! Itchy skin rash /bumps I haven't posted in a while but Chloe is having an issue I wanted to ask about. I'm going to call the vet but wanted to ask here first. I will try to keep this short 8 months ago we went on vacation and left our two furbabies with friends. We came back two weeks later and our babies were COVERED in fleas ( we had no idea there were fleas in their house...we had never seen or felt them while visiting and our dogs had never been there) So as soon as we got in the car I called our vet and she told me to bath them in dawn dish soap then give a flea bath....So we came home and before we even brought the dogs in the house we bathed them many times outside in a tub with the dawn then did a flea bath till we saw no more fleas. Then treated them and the house ( even though we still hadn't brought them into the house. ) The next day we took them to the vet had them treated for fleas and retreated the house. So we watched for a few weeks and saw no fleas and our other dog seemed fine but Chloe kept scratching...We took her back to the vet and the vet said she was having a reaction to the fleas saliva ( there were no more new fleas but the saliva was in her system) She gave me meds for her and she took them fine. Most all the bumps went away and the scratching subsided and the redness went away. fast forward 8 months and it looks like she is having the same symptoms again but we don't have any fleas , the other dog is fine , and they haven't been anywhere ! We haven't changed her food and she is still bathed with puppy shampoo. Could she still be having a reaction to the flea saliva after this long? I'm going to call the vet but wanted to see if anyone could help. Thanks

| It could be that maybe she got bit by another type of insect...does she use a litter box or do you take her outside to go potty? In my opinion, it is just the time of year when there are more bugs outside! You (and others) can even bring them in on you from the outside...some bugs will hitchhike in on purses, shoes, clothes, etc. It just happens. I remember once my vet telling me that during the summer your dog or cat may get a couple of fleas here and there even tho you may not have fleas in your house. So she could've got bit by a single flea and since she's allergic, she would have the same reaction. |
