| Could there be a piece of toy or food stuck in between two teeth? That would make stinky breath. If it continues I would see the vet. |

| Yup - most likely the teeth need to be cleaned.

| Agreed- if it is that bad he likely needs to see a vet for a cleaning.

| He probably has retained baby teeth that will need to be pulled if they don't come out soon. Usually done at time of spay/neuter.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | They are teething at this age, and losing baby teeth, you will smell blood, rotting food that settles in old pocket of tooth, as well as food that settles between double rows of teeth. Now is the time to start brushing and getting your dog use to the tooth brush. They will never like getting their teeth brushed, but they will fight less in time. Most of us get remaining baby teeth pulled during neutering surgery. Once the adult teeth are in, his breath should smell good again. Remember, odor is alway a sign of some problem.

I never knew dogs shed teeth like people....I am still new to this dog owner thing! When I took him to the vet 2 weeks ago . He said his teeth are not all the way grown for his age... I asked him for more detail.and he said don't worry sometimes the breeders don't put the right birthdate down... weird response!

| The vet meant that the breeder may have lied about the puppy's age (calling it older than it is) to sell them faster (so they didn't have to keep them at their house/kennel and put more money into them).
