Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Pet poisoning claims Interesting info on types of poison claims a "large pet insurance company" had between 2005 & 2009. 13 Most Common Causes of Pet Poisoning | ProbioticSmart.com How sad that so many pets are lost to this kind of thing. I know our dogs wouldn't be in contact with many of these things but the number 1 accidental poisoning is from overdose/getting into owners meds

| Toads are poisonous with the secretions they give off in many parts of the US. Even when they aren't technically poisonous they still give off a self-defense secretion that can make a little dog very ill (as we personally know all too well). Many, many, many decorative plants and trees are highly deadly - the sago palm is just one. If your pup just walks in the leaves they can die from toxicity (especially small dogs). Unfortunately, most of these things are easily accessible to an inquisitive pup. Just one more reason they should not be outside unattended (or in a garage, etc.)

| I'd have thought antifreeze poisoning would be more common.... glad it's not and hoping dogs didn't die from it and went unreported....

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I think we have to keep in mind this info was collected by the claims the insurance company had so while interesting, I'm sure way too many pets die from these & other causes that aren't in this article.

| Common toads are not poisonous and will not harm a pup. I have had a few incidents with my pups....they will foam at the mouth if they bite or lick a toad but it does not kill them. .... With one exception: The bufo toad! It is toxic and only in certain states...I know that Florida and Hawaii have them. Here are some links: Bufo Toad Poisoning Protect your dog from poisonous cane toads | The Honolulu Advertiser | Hawaii's Newspaper
