| How old was your girl... When she got her first heat? And what happened? Lulu is 7 months now and we are wondering when she will get her first heat. We are planning to get her fixed and want to do it before she starts.... We wanted to wait until she is a little heavier, but heard its also important to fix her before her first heat |

| Josie was 10 months old. She is small 4-lbs. Tried to keep her and Jack seperated and that was a night mare. I took them both to be fixed and she was in heat when they fixed her. Best thing I could have done. |

| Why is this? I talked to ZoE's vet at her last visit, when all her shots were complete, about when to get her spayed. Her Vet said anytime after 6 months, but he seemed more concerned with making sure her teeth were all in when he did it so that if she was retaining baby teeth, he could pull them at that time. I asked, what if her teeth aren't all in yet & she goes into heat early (seriously don't know if that's a dumb question...) but he looked at me like I was a little strange (but he's done that a few times before...) and just said, then we spay her after her heat cycle.

Yorkie Yakker | I brought mine in to be fixed at 6 mos but my vet suggested that wait a month to see if her baby teeth would fall out on their own. he is going to pull out any remaining teeth during the surgery.

| No! Her nor Jack changed at all. In fact it has been 6 months now and Jack is still trying to hump her. Poor guy! She lets him. But neither changed nor did they gain weight. They are both as active as they were before. |

| Chloe was spayed between 10 and 11 months and had not yet gone into heat. I think it is fine to spay after the first heat in a very small female IF! the owner is responsible enough to make sure they don't get pregnant.
