| Well, the Olive Oil was a bad idea I asked here if I could use Olive Oil over the food for my crew and i was told yes. Well, I noticed them all 3 licking their feet shortly after eating and I couldn't figure out what it was until I forgot to put the oil in with their food and they didn't lick their feet. Hmmm...so...I experimented...used the oil and they all licked their feet...next day no oil...no feet licking. So...no more Olive Oil for my crew...sometimes I really think less is more. |

| No need for oil unless their food isn't already balanced. For skin and coat, omega 3 and vitamin e... Yes, there are so many unnecessary things used.

| Their food is balanced...both the kibble and the home cooked recipe...just wanted to ad a little oil to make sure their skin didn't get dry. I won't do that again...like I said...less is more. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | if they are eating a balanced diet then there should be enough omega fatty acids in the food. Olive Oil is not something I would put in there food because there are better options out there.

| I wouldn't use olive oil but I have used fish oil if you are concerned. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Yt is a great place to gather information but just because something is said here doesn't make it true or safe as i'm sure you know. If your dogs are itchy or have dry skin I'd consult with a professional to find out the reason for the dry, itchy skin, then figure out what can be done to rectify the problem.

My crew is fine...we just have hard water and I wanted to supplement with some kind of oil that wouldn't bother Moo. Maybe I should look into a rinse or conditioner at bath time that would help. My husband and myself get itchy from the water here sometimes too...but, I didn't think about that with Moo until recently...she's our 'sensitive' girl. | |

| I have used olive oil without incident in my dogs. Whoever balanced your home cooked diet should be able to talk to you about the olive oil issue. Personally, I use Omega 3 fatty acids in my dogs diets. They get Nordic Naturals and it has greatly improved the coat of my one dog that is very ill and my second dog who has to be on a severely fat restricted diet for life. The third one does not need it for the coat, but there are so many good reasons for fish oils that I give him one as well.

| Moo can't have fish oils...she's allergic to fish. I do use ACV in their water daily and they love it. As for the hard water...this area is notorious for hard water...both of our cars are black and even at the 'spotless' car wash it still leaves water marks! |
