| Overshot jaw/overbite Anyone ever deal with this? Jackson has had a bit of an over-bite since he was born. I actually did not notice it when I first picked him up, it's not highly noticeable unless you're looking up from underneath his chin, and you can see his front jaw goes a little over his bottom jaw. It hasn't really caused him any major problems but his bottom canine teeth (the sharp ones) are poking into upper gums. They always have been and the vet pointed out about 6 months ago that it looked a bit red on the upper roof of his mouth (from the bottom teeth poking it). I know this is something I'm going to have to take care of soon.... and I think it's been bothering him because sometimes he'll wake up in the mornings and open and close his mouth quite a few times like he's trying to get it 'comfortable'. Did not know if anyone had ever dealt with this.... there is a dog dentist in my area that seems really good but I haven't contacted them yet or anything. They specialize in doggy dental so I'd feel better about having him at a specialist.... I don't really want them to have the pull the teeth though, do you think it's possible to shave them down, just so it's not sharp poking into his gums anymore? I'd probably get him a dental at the same time just to scrape off the little bit of plaque that is there, though it's not a lot right now. He is 2.5yrs old now. I attached some pics. The first pic is kind of what he has. Second is a pic of him where you can sort of see it.

| Aww, Jackson's poor gums. I don't have any advice to offer, but I wanted to ask if that foot in the bottom left of the photo is real or a toy.

Sorry I don't have any advice for you, but had to comment on the foot My boyfriend bought that same foot for Chase for his birthday last year. It was his favorite toy, so when it got a hole in it, we replaced it quick! He LOVES that foot | |

| My Gulliver has a pretty significant overbite. His upper jaw overshoots the lower by about 1/2". he hasn't had any problem at all with it. we've had our vet check it each time we visit and so far so good. his teeth are actually growing just the teensiest bit sideways so that the bottom ones don't jab his upper palate. Our vet said if it ever got to be a problem we could have those two lower canines extracted so at this point we're just monitoring. He lost all of his baby teeth on his own and has absolutely zero problem eating LOL. |
