My furkids Donating Member | I feed Merricks ,grammies pot pie) and wellness 95%chicken (as a topper). Merricks does carry a puppy kibble...and wellness does carry a wet puppy food as well...there are many good foods out there...check the ingredients and make sure there are no by products in it...matter of fact I believe there is a food chart on here somewhere...I would stay away from store brands...first couples of ingredients should be meat. I'm sure you are going to get several other suggestions here..YT is a very good source for info... OH!

| Hi and welcome!! There's quite a few that people here on Yt that like ....Evo....Taste of the wild...Wellness...etc....sometimes it just boils down to what your baby will eat... Here's a dog food rating site....just make sure you feed your baby high quality dog food. If you have a feed and grain store or a pet specialty shop nearby...many times they offer free samples of premium foods....you can check with them...get some samples and see which one your baby prefers.... | Like the above poster said, its best to get samples if possible because a food that another person may love won't agree with your dog or your dog may just turn its nose up at it. Personally, I like Natural Balance a lot. It is a pretty easy food to find, they have a range of limited ingredient diets that are simple and therefore easy on the systems of these little guys. I have also had success with Nature's Variety Prarie.

| I agree with all of the above suggestions. Your puppy may start out on what the breeder initially fed him; I would not make any drastic or immediate changes when he first comes home. IF he is not already on a good-quality food from the breeder, very slowly transition him over to the kibble of your choice - adding just a little at a time to whatever he started on.

| As long as it's a high quality food and your pup will eat it, your good. It's the later part that gives most of us yorkie owners all the trouble! I've had a lot of success with the Wellness line, and am currently on Acana and both of mine are doing excellent Acana is an ALS (all life stages) food so you can feed it through puppyhood and adulthood! Good luck |

You can order it online....but many pet specialty shops (I'm not talking about the ones that sell dogs...as I don't shop in those pet stores)....carry premium foods...It just depends on your area....all grocery store dog food brands and walmart foods are "JUNK"...can't speak for target, kmart..etc...If you have a "grain and feed" store...they carry some premium foods.. We have a "quality supply" store here...they carry natural balance...but other brands are poor quality...it just takes some shopping...but you can find premium without necessarily shopping online.. Amazon carries premium foods too...some even have free shipping...if you want to shop online!

| As mentioned, the 1st 2 ingredients should be a meat product. I searched long and hard for Buddy's food choice. It's still an experiment to see if he likes it, which he does, how it effects his stool, which so far is fine, and how he reacts to it, which at this point is positive. |

| You should stay away from grocery store brands, however petsmart and petco carry good brands, as do specialty pet stores.

| I don't have any personal experience with it but it is a pretty decent food ingredient wise, my one concern is that it is just diamond food prepackaged and diamond did have some major recalls at one point, but their quality control may have Improved since then.
