| Torn Ligament in Knee???? Hello, I've received such great input/advice on this forum I'm crossing my fingers someone has been through this or can give me some good info. Bentley is 11 months old and for a few weeks suddenly he will pick up his back leg and refuse to put weight on it. we have been putting off taking him to the vet because often he'll put it down within a few minutes and never showed any signs of pain. Well he went to the vet today and apparently has a tear in his outer ligament in his knee. THe vet explained that the knee is coming out of socket when the ligament gives and demonstrated how it moved.. He said in the meantime Bentley can do anything but if he picks up the leg to maek sure we straighten it out and put it back into place because it does cause arthritis. Apparently this is usually seen in older dogs or at least 4 years old. He recommends surgery at some point either through him or through a specialist. Has anyone been through this, what did you do?? I feel pretty horrible, and am just worried about my little guy. thanks

| Don't feel horrible! I have had two pups with torn ligaments this past year. They both were operated on and are doing very well now. It is important to take care of this or they get very bad arthritis. Yorkies are prone to luxating patella and also torn cruciate ligaments. This is not your fault! I would suggest that you take your pup to a board certified surgeon. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
