| What food do you use? Hello, I hope noone else has posted a thread like this but there was like 500 something post and I couldn't go through them all and don't know jow or if I can search for a certain thread. Anyway, I was curious what everyone feeds their babies. I feed my three Chicken Soup for Puppy Lover's Soul. They seem to really like it and I like the ingredient list. It seems like a really good food and it isn't a bad price. Here where i live I can get a 35 lb bag for around $35 or so. That last Yorkies quite a while. I bought a 50 lb dog food storage container at Walmart to keep it fresh. It is rated as a 5 star food on the dogfoodanalysis.com site. Does anyone else use this food and if so what do you think about it? |

| I think it is probably a pretty good choice. I have heard good things about that food and lots os YT'ers use it. We use Innova Small Breed for ours..... but may I suggest that you might want to purchase smaller quanities at a time.... dog foods DO have expiration dates on them. We buy a small 6 lb bag about once a month. (3 dogs - 1/2 cup a day per dog) They each get 1/8 cup in the morning... 1/4 at dinner time... and 1/8 about 8pm.

| I use to use Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. The only reason I stopped was because the company that makes it was still using fish meal preserved with ethoxyquin. They have since changed this. I would consider this a very good food and would use it again in the future.

| I switched Zoe to Halo's Spot's Stew from Royal Canin Puppy 33. Now, she was sick as well, so I can't credit the food alone, but she has really improved on Spot's Stew...tons of hair growth, some weight gain (which she desperately needs), lots of energy. I didn't know when I bought it that it is Ellen's company, but heard her talk about it just last week on a show. And I like Ellen...so good all around!

| I check the date and I also keep it in a storage container instead of just in the bag to keep it fresh. I always look at the date and make sure that the expiration date won't go out before they eat it all. It just keeps us from having to go to the feed store so often. I free feed my babies because they will only eat a couple bites here and there throughout the day. I just feel like they should have access to their food whenever they are hungry and we haven't had any problems with it. They don't overeat and they aren't overweight or anything like that. They really like the taste of the Chicken Lover's. Thanks for the recommendation though. If I notice any problems or if they start not eating it all before the expiration and I have to throw it out I will start getting the med. size bag.

I didn't start using this brand until after they switched to the ethoxyquin-free. I emailed the company to make sure they were using the ethoxyquin-free products. I use to think dog food was dog food but not anymore!! I make sure to check the ingredients before feeding my babies anything and started doing that when I got Bailey my first Yorkie because I started doing the research and found out how bad store brand foods are!!

| I feed Nature's Variety Chicken and Rice formula. A 5lb bag costs me $12.99. It takes my kiddos a few weeks to go through it. Once I have a bag of dry food open I don't like to have it around for more than a month or so- especially with all natural foods- once open they can start to go bad- even with an airtight container, it is getting air in everytime I open and close it- so I never buy bigger than the 5lb bag.

| I may start buying a smaller bag. My husband has a German Shepherd that stays outside and sometimes eats from there supply and he can put some food away!!! We keep a container outside near his kennel and we have another container here in the kitchen for the Yorkies. Bear (the shepherd) is so big he can't stay inside especially with the Yorkies.

| I feed Sasha Primal Raw in the morning and Acana kibble at night. I just switched her back to Acana after having her on Blue Buffalo Wilderness for over a year. I have no complaints with the Blue Buffalo company whatsoever. After reading lots of threads on here and doing more reading up, I really like the Champion Pet Foods company (makers of Acana and Orijen) and feel extremely confident in feeding their foods. I was feeding Sasha Acana before but stopped because the store I was buying it from didn't always have it in stock. I have since found a store that always has it so I decided to switch her back. A 5.5lb bag of the kibble lasts about 1 1/2 - maybe 2 months and 2 bags of Primal with 64 nuggets in each bag lasts about 3 months. |

I also never buy bigger than 10 lbs. I have 2 dogs. This lasts us about 2 months tops. 1/2 Cup per day & per dog. Currently I am feeding them Now! Small Breed Dog food (10lb bag). Might change to Natural Balance Small Bites or to Nature's Variety when this is gone.

| I rotate between Orijen (Regional Red formula), Acana (Grasslands), and sometimes add in Go! Endurance. I might try the Now! since it's made by the same company as Go! next, and since Jackson doesn't seem interested in the Acana anymore.
