| I would take him to the vet as soon as you can. It could be an ear infection. Often there are no visible outer signs except for the dog's behavior such as scratching and head shaking. Ear infections are painful and can lead to other illnesses or hearing loss if left untreated. The vet has equipment to look deeper into the ear. Hope your baby feels better soon.

| Hopefully he will sleep tonight and the snow won't be so bad to make travel difficult tomorrow.

| ear troubles He could have ear mites or infection but you can test for mites at home. Use a qtip and get a little wax on it (you don't need to go deep) the wax is more brown or reddish brown colored. Wipe the qtip on a white sheet of paper and look at it closely. If it's mites, you can see them move. Belle had them once and I got ear mite treatment at Walmart. It worked really quickly and I keep it on hand just in case, especially over a week-end. Good luck and make sure to get your baby treated soon. |

| I once thought Copper had ear mites and bought the stuff to treat. He acted the way you describe. When I took him to the vet, it turned out to be an ear irritation probably from bathing him and getting water in the ear canal. The vet said she doesn't see ear mites often. I say take your dog to the vet. Better to treat the right stuff instead of the wrong.
