| Eukanuba? I have been reading alot of threads lately since my Elsa has had a recent first litter. I have her on Eukanuba puppy right now because she has been nursing. I do not see any post about or even mentioning Eukanuba. Is it a good dog food? Another question: My puppies are almost 8 wks old. Elsa doesn't nurse them a whole lot anymore. When can I change her off of the puppy formula and put her on Eukanuba for Yorkies. Depending on any advise to my above question I will consider keeping her on it at all. Thank you. |

| It looks like a poster started another post about Eukanuba, here's the link http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ur-babies.html I personal got the Eukanuba for Yorkie's once and then I read the ingredients. I did not finish giving that food to my girl. My girls have never had a litter, so maybe you could check out the breeder talk area for your concerns on feeding your nursing mama dog.

| Something I have learned here over time is to feed the food that YOUR dog (or dogs) do best on. My mother had a German Shepard when I was a child. She lived to be 13 years old and was never sick. She was fed Purina. I feed my furbabies what I feel is the best food for them and that I feel comfortable feeding. Right now that is a no corn or by-product dog food and that is in the middle 20's for protein. I am currently feeding Now! Small Breed but will be trying Natural Balance Small Bites when this bag is gone (for variety).

Some people can live to be 100 eating nothing but crap, smoking cigarettes, drinking liquor every day of their lives. Doesn't necessarily mean they were "healthy", just either had good genes or good luck, LOL. Just like a person can eat all organic, no sodas, no smoking, etc, and drop dead of a heart attack at 50. So I guess it's just what you feel comfortable with feeding your dog (as you said) and what works... but just because something is seemingly working, doesn't necessarily mean it actually is. So I'd rather be safe than sorry. There's not enough evidence either way to really support either viewpoint. Except what I see with my own two eyes. I see dogs eating "crap" foods who poop a TON, their coats are just blahhh, they have that "dog smell", etc, etc. Compare it to the few dogs I know who eat healthy food and the difference is magnicifcant to me (someone who actually is a dork and pays attention to things like that-I'm a dogsitter, so around dogs alot lol) Just my .02 cents.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I can also say I can notice a difference in dogs that eat healthy foods. I think they actually do smell better. I can't tell you how many people tell me, I give my dog baths regulary and he/ she still smells like a dog but Taycie dosen't what do you do??? Yes, grooming helps but I also think what she eats plays a major role in it. I work as a nanny and they have a dog that eats Iams. He smells like a "dog".. He just turned 3 and his teeth are awful. Horrible plaque on just about every tooth. He poops like crazy not to mention horrible gas and has ear infections at least every 3 to 4 months. No, maybe not every dog is like this, but I can't help but wonder if he was on a better food what he would be like.
