| Trader Joe's Chicken Jerky Sticks We went to trader Joe's the other day and I brought Jamie the Trader Joe's Chicken Jerky Sticks. The TJ products for humans are usually good quality so I was hoping that their treats for dogs are good also. It is low in fat and I am only using it sparingly as a training treat but you would think I was giving her crack by her reaction. Does anyone else use these or any of the other TJ treats. Any opinions on them. I am trying not to feed Jamie too much junk. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | You are right to be concerned about how much fat you are giving her. Yorkies are prone to pancreatitis, and their digestive system isn't one of the traits. I haven't tried them, but if they are made for dogs, and this means that excessive amounts of salt and spices aren't used, I think an occasional treat would be fine. We do daily training with Joey, so I had to stop using treats, and I just use his regular food, he was getting too chunky!

| I would make sure they aren't made in China. If they are made in the USA, then I don't think they would be bad in moderation. Many of the chicken strips for dogs source the chicken from China, so be sure to read the fine print on the bag. My girls like Kona's Chips, though I always make sure to refrigerate them once they have arrived. Since you mentioned they are like "crack" to Jamie, you might be interested in reading this story about Kona the pom of Kona's Chips: Young Pomeranian Becomes Ill from Chicken Chips from China | Kona's Story

| They are good treats I've bought these for Rocco because they are NOT made in China, they are from the USA, and the only ingredient is chicken. You can see that they are simply dried chicken tenderloins. The price is also reasonable and they've never caused an upset tummy with Rocco. I don't think they're a bad treat at all.

| I buy kona chips for my dogs and I thought that they were expensive? They like them so much they will fight over them and one of them gets so excited he'll swallow a big piece whole so have to be careful to break off little pieces. They get them on the weekends only. It's there sat and sun treat. Last edited by jacquelinebabco; 01-06-2011 at 09:47 AM. |
