| Welcome to YorkieTalk. The best way to avoid having a picky eater is to reduce or eliminate treats, never feed table food, and choose a food and stick with it. Put the food in Alvin's bowl and leave it for 20 minutes. If he doesn't eat, pick up the bowl until the next meal time. Don't offer Alvin alternatives, otherwise you are training him to hold out until he gets the "good stuff." Healthy dogs will not purposely starve themselves. Sometimes a food change will help, but constant changing and offering more and more alternatives will only make the dog pickier.

| What are you currently feeding? It took us a few tries to find the right food for Lucy. She loves some things mixed in with her kibble: cooked carrots, green beans, plain chicken broth (no spices); buttered noodles; cottage cheese; and I also used Wellness 99% canned chicken. She has some liver issues; so I had to start feeding her the Natural Balance Vegetarian. She wasn't crazy about it at first; but likes it mixed with any of the above. My Westie eats plain Blue Buffalo Wilderness Duck in the morning and I mix a little canned food in with his evening food. He's never been a picky eater and HATES the carrots, green beans, etc. mixed with his food.

| Rosie is a very picky eater! But we finally found a food she liked. I did end up switching and I guess gave in to her. We went through two different foods then the third one worked. She would turn her nose up and walk away. She is eating Wellness Small Bites. What are you feeding your furbaby? Rosie prefers the higher quality foods. Don't feed her Alpo or Old Roy. Ha ha. She will not eat it!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Dolce's Picky aswell Yes sis, Like I've been telling you, dolce is picky as well, He was on Wellness with Puppy Deli Fresh, didn't swing with him, so I tried Wellness with Cottage Chesse, he ate it once in an Blue, Yesterday I got up went to the Pet supermarket and got the 6oz of the Wellness Puppy canned food, and Whola, he ate one can yesterday. So It was also a trial with him. I also realised that Whole Foods sells Wellness as well, but it's like 2 dollars more..Just "Food for Thought"..lol

| When I adopted Avery a few weeks ago, he had just turned 1. His previous parents (that were totally clueless) kept telling me he was a picky eater and rarely ate. After I picked Avery up, I took his oversized jacket off in the car and noticed he was quite thin. They were feeding him Science Diet for puppies. Not the right choice at all. I read up on the YorkieTalk forums and decided the Wellness brand would be my best bet. I did the same thing as "Maximo". Put his food out in the morning and the evening. If he snubbed it or only ate a little, I would put it up after 15-20 min. It only took Avery a few times to catch on! Now, he eats it ALL at EVERY mealtime! |
