problems with gagging Our little 6 month old Gracie has been gagging since last night. She does this for a few hours every 15-20 min. and then she is OK for a few hours. Up until a few minutes ago it just seemed like a dry gagging but she vomited this last time, nothing big came up just a yellowish liquid. As with everyone, this is our little baby so we are a little worried about it, since this is the first time we've had any problems. If you guys have any info or might have had an experience like this please let me know. Thanks

| Is it possible that she could have swallowed something that is making her feel sick? Since she just threwup bile, I wouldn't worry too much right now. If it continues past tonight though, I would suggest calling your vet and telling them the story and let them determine whether to bring her in or not. It doesn't sound serious, but you never know. Hope she feels better soon!

Bubbles used to throw up the yellowish liquid, sometimes quite frequent. It was a bit scary becaue it was seriously a bright yellow! The vet said it was bile and would happen as Bubbles had quite a sensitive stomach. So if he ate the wrong thing, or even sometimes when he'd rush his food or have an off day he'd bring up this bile. I'd check with your vet though if it continues just so they can give you peace of mind.

I dont think she ate anything, we keep a real close eye on her so she doesnt pick anything up. She has been OK for the last 3-4 hours. She's drank alot of water in the last few hours so maybe she did have something like hair or a bit of carpet lodged in her throat. I read another post where someone's yorkie chewed up and swallowed a piece of carpet. I think she is going to be ok, it doesn't take much for someone to worry huh? If she continues to have problems tomorrow we are going to call the vet. Thanks for the replys.

Does she have diahrrea at all? She could have a worm or parasite or something like that. Thinker had giardia(sp?) and hookworm when I first got her. It took the vet a little bit to find out what it was, but I suggest taking a stool sample to your vet just to make sure. If it isn't anything like that it maybe because she isn't eating. Tinker is really weird about eating, she doesn't eat until 3 or 4 pm some times. When she waits longer than that to eat she will throw up. I was told that when they don't eat for a long time that the bile will build up in their stomachs and then they will throw up. So I would just watch to see if she eats enough. If she's not I would soak a little bit of soft food in water, and then put it in the microwave for about 10 to 15 sec. and see if she will eat that. If this continues for a long time I would take her to the vet.
