| WOW Uni's appetite is huge now after spay! Have any of you noticed this to happen? She is hungry all the time and eats her food so fast she practically vacuums it up. We had to tease her to try to get her to eat before, but now nope! We joke that she has turned into Katie who is on the "see food" diet, any food she sees, she eats. I'm still giving her the regular portions and her little snacks, same as before, but she seems like she's starving! I don't want her to get fat, she needs to keep her weight where she is for her LP. But she cries to eat now! Has anyone noticed this to happen after spay? She is peeing and pooping a lot now too, which is to be expected, more in, more out.

| No, I haven't noticed that. At least, I don't remember that happening. I hope it slows down a bit.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | That doesn't sound good to me either. Joey's appetite didn't change after a neuter, it wasn't until a tricks training class, where I had to tempt him with high value food did he put on weight. Before that, he didn't really seem that interested in food. However, the vet said he had to go on a diet, and that's when he became really food oriented. One thing I have noticed on the forum is that so many girls get bladder infections after a spay. I wonder if that could be the case? Perhaps the discomfort makes her think she's hungry? I'd call my vet and ask, any change in behavior or eating habits is important.

| I have 3 spayed girls that gained a lot of weight after being spayed. They now look like little porkers. |

| Pasquale was a VERY picky eater before he was neutered. In fact, the vet made us wait a litte longer just so he could get to a certain weight before he had his neuter. Now Pasquale will eat almost any food you put in front of him! (except kibble with fish in it LoL Dont ask me why) Before I would put his food down in the morning and at 2 pm...half of it would still be there...now he gobbles it up immediately!

But now you've got me paranoid. I'm gonna talk to the vet. The vet tech who took out her stitches left one in, so now I have to go back anyway to get it taken out. I'll talk to him then.

Lol, maybe you want to talk to someone besides the vet tech who left in a stitch!

Also Uni's pooping a lot. She used to go 2 x a day, now it's 3 sometimes 4, but if she goes 4 x not all of them are big, sometimes they are small ones. She's getting fed the same amount, so wonder why she's pooping more? I did switch the type of HK food a few days after her spay, perhaps there's a chance she likes this type better? But she was eating the old kind with such gusto too. Do you know how bladder infections start?

| The only advice I could add is Lily got spayed a week ago today. While she was on her pain meds...she ate next to nothing. She hasn't been taking the rimadyl for a couple days...now she is an eating machine. I don't know if Uni was on pain meds or not?

| I posted the same question after Gracie was spayed. Prior to being spayed she was such a picky eater, we had to add enticements to get her to eat her kibble. After she was spayed, she started wolfing down her food as if it was her last meal. No more picky eater in this house.......

| No she wasn't sent home with any, just clavamox antibiotic. I think she got antibiotic bc she had the spay, growth removal and tooth extraction. She did get a pain med shot though after the surgery.
