| When do puppies stop sleeping so much? I want to know at about what age do your puppies stop sleeping so much during the day. Are their sleeping habits similar to human babies where as they grow older they will sleep less especially during the day? Or, does the sleeping not lessen with age? |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How old are the puppies? I didn't get Joey until 12 weeks of age, but he would seldom sleep, he was always wanting to play. Now at four, he sleeps most of the day, unless he hears something!

| Hi, my Kiki is now 11 months, she has never been over active, and is happy to spend most of her day napping on and off the couch. She does like to play though, but our house is probably a quiet house, as William is 8 now and definately sleeps most of the day and Ella-Mae who is two, has her mad 1/2 hours throughout the day, but otherwise likes to chew on her toys or sleep. I think as long as your puppy is eating well and is healthy, every dog is different, and some sleep more then others. If it is a noisey house, with lots of furbys and activity, I am sure puppies may spend alot more time playing, then an only child....

| Average sleeping time for an adult yorkie is approximately 18 hours. Pups require a lot of rest and minimal handling. Lack of rest and over handling can contribute to hyperglycemia. At times pups don't have sense enough to rest when they're tired, so we need to intervine and put them down for naps.

| My puppy is about 5 months now. He still sleeps a lot. He always wants to play but I try and put him in his crate to get some sleep as much as possible. I was just wondering if I need to worry that he's not getting enough sleep or too much. Thus I ask the question if they sleep less as they grow older. |

| When we got Zoe who were both about 16 weeks old they slept alot. Now Zoe is a year old and Zach is 7 months old and they seldom sleep during the day. They are just too busy. Comes night time they both just flop over wherever they happen to be and go to sleep. The only time they sleep during the day is when they're in their pen and we're not home. My Bassets who are about a year and a half love to sleep all day. They go out and do their thing and play for awhile then they're ready to come in and take a snooze. |
