| Help please, Sadie is till not right Ok so on 10/15 I had Sadie to the vet for her big girl shots and they gave her: distemper canine 3 yr parvo virus canine 3 yr rabies canine 3 yr bordetalla injectable 1 yr plus a heartworm test Within a less then a week she started vomiting & had very runny diarrhea so took her back to the vet on 10/20 & took a stool sample.. They said she had some "parasites" and put her on metronidazole (chicken) 50 mg Two days after the metonidazole was stopped she still had loose stools so took her back again. Vet said she was "better" but still showed a "few" parasites, so again they put her on a weeks worth of it.. A few days after once again, her stools were still loose so took in another sample (after nearly $300 vet bill) & this time they put her on a prescription diet of EN gastroenteric plus told me to add one packet of FortiFlora once a day.. So now I've been doing that since last Thursday and STILL or I should say NOW her stools are even Worse then before!!! She's behaving just fine, eatting well, playing well, but her stools are horrendous. YES I will again call the vet tomorrow but I'm so leary now about what they are advising and wondering if ANYone here has any suggestion?? It's been nearly a month of this now and I'm beside myself and feel so bad for Sadie (tho she appears to be lively, appetitie is good, etc, just the loose stools).. Somehow I think this is linked to all those vaccines they gave her at once? Before this, she was doing just fine on her Wellness dry food for small breeds, and always had good firm stools. What the heck happened here? I'm even leary to ask the vet for anymore advice at this point ya know? But I will call them tomorrow.. If anyone has any advice, or recommendation, I would SO appreciate it as I'm beside myself with how to make life better for her right now... Thank you so much for any insight y'all have.. I just want my Sadie to be back to normal |

| My theory is that all the vaccines at once keep the immune system overloaded allowing possible bacterial problems to develop in the gut. Many people use canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix) for help in controlling diarrhea. I don't know if it will work in your situation or not, but may be worth a try.

| If the pumpkin doesn't work try some cored peeled apple. In the future Please don't let the vet give all vacs at once, it way too much for these little ones. What parasites are you treating for ? Some ProBiotics would probably be a good idea as well Last edited by lillymae; 11-16-2010 at 12:26 AM. |
