Yorkie Talker | Cleaning eye help! So my baby girl's eye's keep watering and becoming clumpy under her eyes and it's very hard to get them out without her going crazy. Someone recomended using baby wipes everyday because it won't stain the fur or cause irration, she doesn't mind it but it doesn't work the best.. any solutions?! |

| Try warm water on a wash cloth or a soft baby tooth brush. She may freak out less if the water is warmer.

| Warm water and wash cloth every morning! I saw someone else recommended that already but thought I would give it another vote. The terry cloth is great for getting the gunge out that causes the gunky mess. I was bad, being gone for a few days and wasn't able to tend to Ben's and he actually got hard places in the eye corners. Yuck! Warm water & wash cloth had to soak a little but still got it out pretty quick. Distilled water has no minerals in it. For human babies you are not supposed to continually use distilled water for formulas and drinking water. They need the minerals, especially for bones and teeth. So, I use Spring water. Still bottled water that is purified more than tap but it has the minerals in it. But..... I am still getting eye gunk so I throw this out more as a question than advice. I know Mardelin (Mary) got advice from one of the top canine nutritionists around to use distilled for puppies. I am just not sure if it is good for long term. I have also read to put just a little Apple Cider Vinegr in their water to help with the eye gunk. Angel Eyes is a product sold for just that purpose but I have been reluctant because it actually contains antibiotics. Some say they have put an end to the eye goop by using Raw Diet or switching to other varieties of quality food. I am going to change on my next bag to Solid Gold Wee Bits. Finally we have a fairly good quality food that I can obtain locally. I hate to have to mail order all the time. If that helps, I will let everyone know. Til then, it is a quick warm wet wash cloth each morning after they have their first potty outing. Don't want to send them out wet as cold as it has been getting. It was 41 degrees here the other morning. Not sure about this morning but it felt even colder. Brrrr.....

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Poppy hates getting her eye boogers cleaned but its a must every morning. I usually sit and hold her under my arm, I then gently hold her face to my chest so she cant wriggle free. I use either doggy eye wipes or a damp cloth to get most of it out and comb any that wont come out. Most dogs hate it but they will hate it more if they have icky eyes. Try giving your pup a treat afterwards and they wont put up as much of a fight.

| I've been using ACV in the boys water for a month or so now. Jesse has watery eyes, and it was quite bad for gooeys, he still has watery eyes, but the goop is not so bad now.

| I think it is apple cider vinegar!!?? I tried that and my guys don't mind it at all. It is just a small bit so it doesnt change the taste of the water.

| I use a washcloth with warm water. Wet the eye goop and then I can wipe it off with my finger. Then follow up with a big hug and kiss. |

| I drink ACV in my water for myself. Been doing that for over a year now. What exactly does it do for your dog? How much? |

| Is it better to clean the eyes in the morning? I normally do it at night...got tired of spending a fortune at the groomer, so started doing it myself...Thanks |
