Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Welcome to YT. How did he get hit on the head? what happend? Do you have an emergency vet who can come out to you if you cannot get to him? Also how far away is your vet? if you cannot get a lift WALK. You pup really needs to see a vet ASAP, as chachi said this could be a matter of life or death.

Im sorry if this comes across the wrong way but pictures mean nothing, we dont need pictures. Pictures cannot tell you what is going on inside his head. A seizure is not normal, he really needs to see a vet. It dosnt matter if the seizure lasted for 10 minutes or 10 seconds, PLEASE take this little one to a vet.

| It is possible that your dog had a seizure and now appears fine. However, the fall may have done some damage and it's possible that he can have another seizure, or even many more. If I were you, I'd still make it a priority to try to take him to the vet. At the very least it will give you piece of mind that he is as ok as you think he is. You may also be saving his life by doing so. I imagine it must be hard not being able to financially care for him. Perhaps you can put a little money away and take him as soon as you are capable.

If you didnt care about your dog I dont believe you would be here asking advice. I dont live in the USA I live in England, we are hit by the recession here just as much as everyone else but there is no way on earth I would let me dog have a seizure and not take her to a vet. Pictures show nothing, pictures cannot show if your dog has brain damage or internal bleeding. Im sorry to sound harsh but its the truth. Im sure you have emergency vets there, if your not sure call your vet and ask. This is not something that should be just left, this is serious. Im worried about your dog which is why I am taking the time to try and help you.

No Longer a Member | Status Epilepticus type seizures can be life threatening. They can appear as one continuous seizure that lasts more than thirty minutes or in a repetitive loop of seizures with the dog never regaining consciousness. Status epilepticus seizures can occur to dogs with a history of Grand Mal or Mild Tonic-clonic seizures and a diagnosis of epilepsy. They can also occur in dogs with no previous seizure activity but that have had an injury to the brain, exposed to toxins such as massive amounts of chocolate, pesticides and poisons or they can be the result of disease. Cluster Seizures are very similar to the loop of status epilepticus seizures and each are often diagnosed as the other. The difference between the status epilepticus and the cluster seizures is that the dog actually has short time periods returning to consciousness in between each seizure. If this is the first occurrence of a seizure, be sure to contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. Depending on preferences, he or she may take the “wait and see” route or go for a battery of blood tests to check for liver and heart functions, anemia, glucose, calcium, and electrolyte levels. The doctor may even want to run a screen for possible toxins including lead as well as possible x-rays. Teaching facilities and some clinics will even have the ability to do EEGs to check for abnormalities. What causes seizures in dogs? Please contact your vet now! Even if it's just a phone call it could be the difference between your yorkie living and dying. |
