| Has there ever been a food you fed that did not make stains/eye goobers? I am feeding Wellness Small Breed. Boys love it! I love the small size kibble. Everything is great on this food except I noticed an increase in the boys eye stains and goobers. What are you feeding that does not make this problem?

Might just be due to allergy season - mine have runny eyes from all the ragweed. I just wash their eyes with my own homemade wipes and they don't stain.

| When I fed Wellness, Jackson's eye goop was GROSS! Same with Fromm. I'm not sure what ingredient caused this but it was getting so frustrating. I thought it was environmental but I did a few test runs where I'd put him back on it for a week, then take him off, etc, and the eye boogers would always appear again. He is on Acana right now, we rotate between Grasslands and Prairie flavors (occasionally he gets Orijen Regional Red, too)... no eye goop! He will wake up with an occasional eye crusty (hey don't we all?) but none of that messy goop that gets stuck to his hair. Also, Nature's Variety Instinct gave us no eye goop.

| I agree with Brit, Acana and NV Instinct are the two that mine do best on as far as eye goop.

| When I started feeding Primal Raw Keoki's eye goobers went almost 100 percent away- when he visits his grandma and she gives him treats I can always tell by his eye goobers- big, big difference |

| When I switched to NOW! puppy Harley's eye goup stopped. It started again, but we just moved so I think it's more stress than his food, cause I just sent him to the groomers, and he hasn't had eye goop in a few days,

| Mocha's eyes got better on Wellness Small Breed. I think for him it was allergy related. Each dog is different. I've been told that Solid Gold really helps with it. I have never used it so I can't say myself how it is. |

| "Has there ever been a food you fed that did not make stains/eye goobers?" In my dreams! LOL They're not horrible but I've tried several foods and had goobers with all of them. Angels' Eyes definitely seemed to help but didn't take away 100-percent. Last edited by AMD; 10-23-2010 at 09:39 PM. Reason: funky percentage again... |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I know you can order Acana Online. I have seen it everywhere online. Taycie has been struggling with really runny goobery eyes. I have also been trying new foods.. (and we have tried alot) trying to find something that I felt 100 percent comfortable feeding. I have posted many questions on food and googled some but I still felt confused. I was confused on protein and I HAD so many questions. So I decided I needed to do some of my own reading other then the computer so I could get all my worries answered when it came to food. After many hours in the library and we are doing a dehydrated, homecooked diet. I also REALLY like the benifits to raw feeding. I would look for something that is grain free, gluten free, and try changing your protein source. Many dogs have allergies to chicken and just a simple switch of protein may make all the difference. Right now I am currently feeding Taycie The Honest Kitchen. I am really impressed with the company. I am feeding her the Embark formula which is a turkey based formula and is also grain/gluten free. I love being able to add additional protein to her food and spice it up. Or if I am in a rush I can simply feed the food alone. She goes CRAZY for it! Which makes me happy Her eyes also have gotten 100 times better! Along with many other things! Primal Raw is next on our list Kibble wise I would go with Acana. Champion Pet Foods is great! |
