| Carrots I purchased a can of sliced carrots. At my little ones dinner time I decided to open them up to give my 6 and two fosters a carrot or two.Well they ate the whole can. I feed them one at a time . They LOVED them. I knew they liked them because I have mixed them in with there chicken and they ate them then. This time I just thought I would see if they would eat them by themselves without a meat. They ate them all and wanted more. The question I have is, will they get loose stools? They have not had problems with it before but they also did not eat about 15 to 20 slices each. I guess I should of thought of that before but it just now dawned on me, Isn't carrots what you give them if they can not potty? Thank you

| lol Brenda, they definitely will not have a problem pooing. Their potty will be orange so you know that their little systems are cleaned out. I just started giving mine carrots again with their meals since I started the dehyrated. Hot Rod recently had a bout of not being able to go so I followed some advice and gave him a sweet potato stick and since then they've been getting veggies in each meal. Poor Maggie doesn't really like veggies though, although they both went nuts for some lima beans out of that soup! so did mommy and daddy- lol.

The soup was delicious. We will usually each give them a treat (a small piece of whatever we have, usually the veggie or potato) after we have dinner because they lay in their beds that beside our table during our meals. We gave them a lima bean each and they both gobbled it up. I had a few leftover so I saved it gave it to them with their meals. While Hot Rod, I know, loved the bean regardless, them being cooked with ham probably had something to do with it.

| I've never given Beamer or Lil Bit canned carrots. But I give them one of those baby carrots as a treat. In fact as soon as I have finished grooming Beamer he goes to the refrigerator and scratches at the door for me to get him a carrot - and when I open the door he scratches at the veggie drawer, it is almost as if he just can't wait for me to open it to get him a carrot.

| I give mine raw baby carrots. Usually they get one each at dinner time. They like them and I've never had poop problems, either. |

| We give raw, baby carrots all the time as treats! Just 2-3 though. I have never fed canned and I certainly have never given that much, haha. Almost anything (besides the things are actually harmful to dogs) are okay in moderation. This is canned pumpkin, not carrots.

| To the OP - I wouldn't worry so much about the carrots as I would about the sodium in the canned carrots. Don't they have added salt as a preservative? I'd stick with fresh carrots for them. I give Rocco a fresh baby carrot about once a day also. He's had as much as 3-4 in a day and it didn't affect his poops. Quote:

| I just started giving Piper frozen green beans (thawed first of course) and fresh baby carrots. I throw them both in boiling water for a few minutes then cut them up in tiny halves, cool them, and mix them in with her dry food. I've seen a major improvement in her poops since starting to feed her fresh veggies. I give her bananas also and a little greek yogurt. Not all at once though... I would also only use fresh veggies and not canned. The sodium point is a good one. |

| carrots Thank you for your help. The carrots did not have sodium in them. I am use to buying sodium free because My husband has liver failure and can not have salt. I always have baby carrots here as well. Thanks again.

| I think you are better off getting a bag of crinkle cut carrots that are frozen and thawing a couple at a time. I dont do many baby carrots anymore after reading about chlorine - I just buy a bunch of organic carrots, peel them and slice them. But, I do keep frozen on hand for them and they like the carrots. I have to agree I'd avoid canned anything!
