| Questions about dental.. Roxie has to have a dental done, the lady I got her from didnt take good care of her teeth at all! Well the vet quoted me 90 bucks for a dental, does that sound reasonable? What happens if they get in there and have to do more? Do they normally call you first before they do anything> Sorry for the weird questions, never been thru this before. Thanks! |

| For $90, my Dogs Vet will not even say hello. Believe we paid around $700 for a cleaning, pulling several teeth, and tightening her lower canines. The knock out drop also cost. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | LOL ditto! that's a really good deal for a dental. Most cost hundreds of dollars. In fact, i think i'd be wary of a vet that only charged that much but that's just because everything is expensive where i live. If your comfortable with your vet and that price seems to coincide with his other prices then i'd go ahead with it. Vet's should call if they need to do anything that's not on the estimate but i'd reiterate that to the vet before you leave the dog there.

| Ok I was wondering why this price was so cheap compared to what I have been hearing it normally costs..lol..so I called back and I was told that the actual dental is $95 and the pain meds after and the bloodwork prior make the whole total $175..lol..I also asked if they got in there and decided something else needed to be done, would they call me before they did it, and she said absolutley we would never do anything without your permission. Makes me feel better, and thanks guys for answering my crazy questions, I honestly have never had a dog that had a dental done. Thanks again.. |

| February is National Pet Dental Health Month. Several vets around here offer half price cleanings during February, so I always try to have mine done then. It's still expensive, though.

| Just make sure they scale & polish. Some vets do it the "cave man" way. Using something that looks like pliers & they crack the calculus off omitting below the gums. I learned the hard way. Now I know why it was only $75. I've since found a vet in small town from me that charges $60 plus $30 for blood work. Had them do our beagle & they did real good job. Felt like I found a garage sale. Most vets here where I live charges $300 & up. I'll be taking my little yorkie in soon. But wanted to find out more about tightening the canies. Never heard of it. I've been putting off the cleaning because the vet wants to pull her 2 lower canies as their loose. |

| My vet charges nearly 300.00 for dental. That includes if they happen to have to have a tooth removed. Alot of times little baby teeth have to be pulled so the permanant teeth have room to come in. But I would sure have the blood work done. Back several years ago I didn't have the blood work done on Tina before a cleaning because she had just been in a couple of weeks earlier to get her yearly check-up and boosters. Turned out she almost bled to death because she had Von Wellington disease and we didn't know it. Thank goodness my vet knew what to do but I never fail to get that blood test on anything one of mine are having done. |

| I got my Pearla's teeth cleaned last year and eeeks her breath stinks all over again it smells like something has died in her stomach!! They said this odor can be caused from the belly but I do also see plaque around her teeth. I paid $350 last time but cant afford that right now anyone else that live in NJ pay cheaper elsewhere? She is 3 and has always been on the best kibble but the last 3 months natures variety frozen raw chick. Thanks!
