| fleas of all the times! My female Krystal just had her puppies and I find a flea on one of my males! I'm absolutely sure I'm not putting any flea product on Krystal but don't know what else to do for her protection and the puppies. I have never had fleas with Krystal, Jack, or Morgan since I got them and didn't have to use anything. But we finally have new neighbors in the house next door that has been vacant for awhile and they have two large dogs. And I'm speculating that the fleas have traveled from yard to yard. How about some advice from yorkie owners that have had to deal with fleas. I could use some. the puppies go in for their dew claws and tails tomorrow so I will be asking the vet too! Thanks for any input! Dion

| I live in Florida and use Advantage. It's always done the job for me, but I don't think I'd put it on a mom and puppies. I think you're best bet will be asking the vet.

| Bathe mom in Dawn dish soap. Wash all the bedding, repeat if necessary. |

| THere's this white powder called diccotomous earth and it's supposedly safe for their bedding and even for them to eat. I think it's supposed to cut through the waxy skin of the flea or something? Maybe you can try that? Do they use flea protection when there are no puppies and they are not expecting? |

| Jenny got fleas on my adventure back home about a month ago and it took me forever to get rid of them. I went thru about $100.00 worth of flea stuff for her and the house and it was still hard as hell to be rid of them. Now the poor thing has dry skin and I guess i'm just going to have to let her skin try to fix itself because I really don't know what to do for her as far as "conditioning" her skin. Also im not sure if its common but it seems in certain spots on her little belly but when she had fleas they seemed to have stained her skin. I don't know if it was flea waste or just skin irritation. I hope it goes away tho. But I used Hartz flea drops for her back, and for a shampoo to get rid of them initially I used Adams flea shampoo. I think the shampoo is what dried her skin out so be careful about how much you use. Then for the house I used Hartz powder. |

| I use brewers yeast and garlic pills twice daily and also use the diamatacious (Spelling?) earth in their food daily. I SWEAR by it. We're still having problems with fleas (even with using spot treatments and treating the yard and house), BUT with the daily internal treatments I only find one or two on them a day as opposed to what was 20 a month ago.

| I wouldn't wait it out - I would def as your vet. My sister was caring for an abandoned newborn kitten years ago and it got fleas. The kitten was so small that the fleas actually sucked too much blood from its body and it died. She was devistated but didn't know it was that serious. When they are that tiny - fleas can be a big threat. Sorry I don't have any advise on what to use - I've never had a newborn puppy before. I would just ask the vet and see what they say. |

| I would check out Cedarcide's Best Yet or Wondercide. It is safe and natural and it is effective! Spray on bedding inside and outside you can use the yard version. This stuff is great! |

| Just to let anyone who reads this thread, my vet recommends absolutely NO treatment to mom and puppies, their bedding or area around their xpen. Just flea comb if necessary. I was able to treat my boys. Dion

| i have always used ceadarwood oil and never had a problem. not too sure if it is safe for mom and pups, but an option to ask the vet about. although, most non-holistic vets don't know much about natural healthcare, unfortunately. |
