Is your male neutered? He's certainly old enough to be neutered now!

| I do not want to get them fixed yet, as I am looking to have atleast one litter, but I do not want Miley to get pregnant first heat..she is 6 months and I have been told it may be a year before her first. Plus my male Mojo, has undecended testicles that the vet said may lead to his being sterile. I just want to be prepared before Miley goes into heat. |

| You will have to be so careful if you have a dog that is not fixed around a female dog on heat. They can have ''sexy time'' without you even knowing she is on heat and then you will have a bigger problem on your hands. My vet told me its around 6 months to a year they can come on heat and the first one is normal very light. Your doing a great job coming and finding out the info first. Good luck. xxxx

I'm not a breeder, but I know they are both too young. There is a lot of research and education that should go into breeding long before you would start. Have you had both of them tested, evaluated, etc..? Have you already been working with a mentor?

| Having only one testicle does not make him sterile, but it does mean he should not be bred. The undescended testicle cfan become cancerous, and it is hereditary, so he should be neutered so he does not pass this condition on. If you plan to breed, you need to get some good books and start reading. If you do not even know when they go into heat and what signs to look for, you are no where near ready to breed. That is the very first thing that you need to know. You also need to be aware that once your male has been mated, he will mark his territory forever after. He will not be a nice little boy, he will be a stud and act like one, even after he is neutered. |
