| Pinicky Eater I have a 4 month old and I guess I spoiled it too much that now I am having a problem letting him eat his regular dry food. It started when he came to Canada from AK, USA. He had diarrhea and was prescribed canned food which he totally loved. He was also able to taste cat food and from that time on ward he doesn't want to eat dry food but canned food. Wasnting my puppy to eat dry food as well I would mix 1 tablespoon of canned food with the dry food and he would eat it. But he get tired of it so being the worrying type I would buy other canned food as he has grown not to eat the ones I bought. He would eat this flavor for a day and tomorrow won;t eat it anymore wanting a new change in taste. Tried Nature Varitety's raw food which he totally doesn't like, Evo, Innova, Merrick, Nature's Homestyle, Instinct. Most of the good premium food I have tried. I dont knwo what to do. SHould I be firm and take out his food if he doesn't want to eat knowing that he will eat when he gets hungry with or without canned food. I am at a loss. Hoping to get yhour suggestion. |

| Thank You Hi Ally. Thank you for the advise the Tripett did work this morning. I mixed a teaspoon of the canned food with his dry formula and I was surprised that he ate his food in less than 5 minutes. No prodding, no hand feeding. I am hoping he does the same again later today. How much do you feed a 5 month old? I give him 1/4 cup dry 3 x a day plus 1 teaspoon of canned each time. What do you think? Thanks again. |

yes that sounds good 3 times daily with a teaspoon of tripett; if u see that he's starting to have diaherea decrease the trippet to 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon; as it could be a bit rich. aslo it would be great if u can add some probiotic to the food; that will make their GI system stronger and can fight any bad bacteria. in my opinion canned food is better for dogs as it's higher in moisture and much easier to digest. after suffering 3 years with my dog; she has inflammatory bowel disease now. she only eats wet food; can't tolerate dry food at all. i know a lot of people think dry food is necessary for teeth but that's not true. if u have time do some research and u will see it's not true. u can always brush their teeth few times a week if needed. please ask if u have any questions. good luck

Hi Ally. Thanks for your valuable advise. I have Nutra-stat gien to me by the breeder. I made some research that this is not really a probiotic but just a supplement. Which probiotic do you give your dog? DO you get it from the vet? How many times a week do you give it? I feed my puppy Eukanuba's small breed formula as suggested by the breeder. If I was to give him wet food, which would you recommend? Although dry food helps clean their teeth you do have a point that you could brush their teeth twice a week. Again, your valuable advise is appreciated. Thank you very much. | |

for my dog i use ark natural gentle digest and granular greens; these are probiotics and multivitamin; you can order from iherb.com Ark Naturals, Gentle Digest, I Ark Naturals, Nu-Pet Granular Greens, 8.47 oz (240 g) it's a myth and not true that dry food clean their teeth; small pieces can get stuck in between teeth and cause issues just like other food. u can do more research about this. however it' s up to you to feed dry food. but i would recommend to switch to a high quality food; Eukanuba is a low grade food and has bad filler such as corn and by products. these can cause digestive problems in the long run. there are much higher quality food out there such as welness simple solution; blue buffalo, ..... there are too many. you can do some research. for canned there's addiction, ziwipeak, welness, .... i dont use commercial dog food as my dog has IBD; i use aunt jeni's raw food. it's human grade food and grain free. http://www.auntjeni.com/html/products.html i know this can be overwhelming but there is a lot of good resources and information out there; take your time and do some research. good food is crucial for growing puppies. good luck. here is a link for dog food reviews; you can see which food is best for your dog Dog Food Reviews | Dog Food Ratings
