| food bowl troubles Yoni is almost 20 weeks old and still not eating directly from his dish. So, every mealtime, I start off hand-feeding (his favourite), then I can usually get him to eat some off of the floor (not all the time, unfortunately), and then if I'm REALLY lucky, he will eat maybe 5 (maximum) kibbles from the dish. Because of this, I am the only person in my family who will feed him because I don't trust anyone else to. I want to make sure he gets enough food every day! When I ask my dad to feed him, he puts some food in his dish and leaves it there. Hello!? That's not going to get him fed! When we talked to a dog trainer, he was very against hand-feeding, and told us to put his food out for 20 minutes at a time, and if he doesn't eat it, don't give it to him again until the next meal. And keep doing that until he's so hungry that he eats from this dish. Ummm... no thanks. Yoni is a big boy, around 4.2lbs already and very sturdy, but he is still only a puppy... and a living animal! He needs to eat every day! Anyway, is this normal for yorkies? Will he eventually grow out of it??? I'm a little worried because I'm going away for 5 days next Wednesday and leaving Yoni home alone with my dad and sister. |

| This may sound strange but my boy Kalani won't eat out of a 'bowl' only off of a 'plate'. Worth a try

| same problem Winston is 14 weeks, I bought a plastic bowl for him but it flipped on him and now he won't go near a bowl. Thinks it is going to eat him up I guess. He drinks his water out of a small stainless bowl but I tried a matching stainless for his food, forget it. He would eat kibble off the floor. But the other day I found a small heavy pottery dog bowl and he is now eating from it. He can't flipped it over and its easy to wash. Keep trying you will find something that will work. | Ziva will only eat from an white plastic oval dish like you would get from a restaurant side dish, I was able to find a similar one at a yardsale,it was brown, guess the color doesn't matter because she accepted it. She is verry leary of just about all dishes or dog bowls but will eat off the floor! She will only drink from our big dogs big stainless water bowl. |

| For some reason both Beamer and Lil Bit will take food out of the bowl and take it under the kitchen table, or in another room to eat it. They just don't stay at the bowl to eat - well they do sometimes, but more than not they take it somewhere else to eat! Oh - and they love moving the bowl around too! I sometimes find it at the other end of the kitchen!
