| Taste Of The Wild - pieces too big? I switched Stormy off of the Iams her breeder had her on to Taste of the Wild as soon as she got home. She hasn't had diarrhea or any other signs of not tolerating it. However, the pieces seem like they are too big for her. It takes her quite awhile to gnaw a piece down and last night she threw up 4 whole pieces. They weren't even chewed. I feel like a bad mommy! Anyone else had this problem with TOTW? I also switched Murphy to the same food to keep it easier and she absolutely loves it. I am probably going to switch her to something that has little pieces but thought I'd hear if anyone else had this issue too.

| i tried to give Pasquale a sample bag once of Taste of the Wild...he too "tried" to chew it...but the pieces were just too big for him. So needless to say the sample bag got thrown out.

| Chloe had trouble with one of the flavors (with salmon I think) because the pieces were bigger. The one with buffalo had much smaller pieces though and didn't have trouble with that one.

| Unfortunately it was the buffalo one that she is having trouble with. Oh well... trial and error I suppose. At least it won't go to waste since my other dog likes it.

| I have used Taste of the Wild for a couple of years now. The kibble size for all varieties is about the same. I haven't noticed any problems with them chewing it. The little pups start "gumming" it soon after their eyes open. You might try soaking it is just a bit of water to soften the outside a bit. |

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | I switched Farrah to TOTW at 7 months old and she has done great on it. No problem with it at all. Maybe you can crush the kibble?

| Ziva loves Solid Gold "wee bits", I bought TOTW for a little change but it takes her forever to eat, one crunch at a time until she gives up-I stayed with the wee bits and use the TOTW for a mid morning snack. |

| interestingly enough, I switched my Maddie from Natural Balance small bites to Tasteof the Wild for just this reason! I found she wasn't chewing the NB food at all, just swallowing it all whole. She isn't much of a chewer on anything, toys, treats, etc so I switched her to a larger kibble to force her to chew. She is able to chew it fine, she is 7 lbs. |

| I had this problem with Rocco also (different food though). I just pre-measured his food into snack-sized zip bags, and used my meat hammer to break it into smaller pieces. If you do a lot at once for a few days' supply, it's easier. My vet told me not to soften it because he wouldn't become accustomed to chewing the kibble thoroughly, and it will promote tartar. As long as she has teeth, she should be able to cheew the broken bits just fine but it may take a while for her to break the 'swallow whole' habit.

| All mine eat TOTW too. My littlest guy (3 lbs) who has the littlest mouth has no troubles. He takes a piece, runs off, crunches it to smithereens, and then returns for another. Softening it with water or just breaking it up a bit will probably help. This is a much better food than Iams and I'd hate to see you switch back simply because of that. Many of the top end dog foods make a "small bite" formula. If you don't want to be bothered with crushing it or softening it with water.

| That is too cute! Don't you just love the little "crunch crunch" noise they make with their little mouths when chewing?!

| it's actually even more fun to watch. He kind of throws his whole body into crunching up that kibble.
