| I have taken my 3 1/2 year old yorkie on a trip and she was in the car for 21 hours she did fine!, really the only thing to do to let your dog stay calm is just let them be, and stop every once and a while for a bathroom break, the only time my dog Cruton got sick was when we drove by the ocean because the smell of fish was nasty! Also keep some water in a tall bowl for him just so if he is panting a lot he has some water to drink and lastly just bring some kibble for him to chew on if he wants, My dog Cruton didn't eat that much because she was kinda nervous and i also found that when the window was open Cruton seemed a lot calmer! Hope you have fun on your trip! oh and this was the first trip Cruton was on.

| Traveling Blues You might want to add a few drops of Bach Rescue Remedy without alcohol to your babys drinking water. He should drink a little before traveling and you can continue giving him the same during the trip. RR will help keep him calm and less stressed during the trip. My baby likes to travel in his sherpa traveling bag. He feels safe and secure in there so we always strap it into the back seat so he can enter and exit at his leisure. You may also wish to have a little food available. I give mine Ziwi-peak nibbles. They are just small enough for him to easily eat, yet large enough for me to hand feed. He usually eats 6-8 pieces. this helps keep his blood sugar levels even but does not allow for a full stomach something you most definitely want to avoid so he does not get sick and vomit in the car. We are a traveling family...3 days a week...500 miles I think my boy thought he joined a band of gypsies when we first got him but now he just takes it in stride and is the first to the door when the bags are packed. Good luck and remember to stop and smell the fresh grass along the way...ours LOVES all the exciting smells. And remember to pack a few of his favorite toys too. |

| If you're not against giving meds, perhaps your vet could give you something to help keep him more relaxed during the travel. I hope you can figure something out.

| We traveled 600 miles just last weekend and she threw up 5x on the way up and 2x on the way back. I gave her some dramamine but she still threw up. The dramamine your suppose to only give them half of a 25 mg tablet. What seemed to really help was keeping food and water from her a few hours before getting on the road and just giving her nutrical and water during the trip. They also offer doggy motion sickness pills at the vet which I'm going to get for her since I didn't feel too comfortable giving her the dramamine. |
