| Chicken jerky Jackson loves chicken jerky treats. They are his absolute favorite. Any type of them. He's super picky about what treats he will take, and chicken jerky is his thing and he will do anything for them! LOL. Anyways, I stopped buying Waggin' Train brand after knowing it was made in China, as are most dog chicken jerky strips. I'm just not comfortable with that. I've only found one brand, Dog Jerky, Jerky Dog Treats, Chicken Jerky Dog Treats, made in the USA - Home | Kona's Chips, that seem of high quality. They're a bit pricey though when shipping is added in. $17.89 for a 12oz bag plus $8 shipping. I like to buy in bigger quantities like 12oz, etc. Any other cheaper places to get 100% USA made chicken jerky?

They trick you too, because Waggin' Train for example says something like "USA made chicken" on the front of the bag, but look on the back and in tiny letters it's "Made in China!" I had found another brand at Petco that said USA chicken so I started buying it... only to find tiny tiny print on the very bottom of the bag "Made in China" All the Dogswell ones are too.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | This is what I found.... I'm outraged!!!!!!!! The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States recently cautioned dog owners of a possible link between their dogsbecoming ill and the consumption of chickenjerky products. This alert comes in the wake of the FDA receiving more than 70 complaints from dog owners whose dogs had eaten the chicken jerky treats and became ill; sadly in a couple of cases the dogs died. The FDA has yet to determine what caused these dogs' illnesses. Despite extensive testing of the products in question, no contaminant has been found. The products being investigated by the FDA are Bestro’s Chicken Jerk Stfrom Import-Pingyang Pet Product Co., both sold by Wal Mart. Dogs Dogsthat have become ill have shown some or all of the following symptoms: decreased food consumption, although some may continue to consume the treats to the exclusion of other foods; decreased activity or lethargy; vomiting; diarrhea, sometimes with blood; and increased water consumption and/or increased urination. If your dog has eaten chickenijerky treats and is showing any of the above symptoms, take him to a vet as soon as you can.

| Dehydrator I bought a dehydrator and make my own chicken jerky. You can add your own spice, even change it up each time. It is much better for the little ones. I did a test before. If you put the store-bought jerky in water overnight, nothing changes. But if you put home-made (dehydrated) jerky in water overnight, the jerky puffs back into chicken strips. The only thing is that they don't last very long. You will have to refrigerate them. Great in summer but in winter need thaw out first. But this tells me that the store bought ones have preservatives. Some of them said no preservatives but they still last so long....wonders why. |

| Homemade jerkey I make my own. I buy boneless skinless chicken breast at Winn Dixie when they're on sale. Freeze them individually. Take one out at a time & as it's thawing cut it up in thin strips (easier to cut) Put on cookie sheet w/ parchment paper & cook at 200 degrees for two hours. Turn & continue cooking until crispy. Freeze until needed, then refrigerate. Best treat my dogs have ever had!!

| We dehydrate too. 3-4 hours in the dehydrator - rotate the trays every hour. We dehydrate turkey breast and venison. I break them up into bite size pieces and freeze in sandwich bags. No spices, no salt - just the meat. Its best to cut the meat when its partially frozen.

When her Kona's Chips come [they are shipped USPS Priority Mail or sometimes Overnite] and I immediately put them in the freezer. She loves them straight from the freezer. I admire those of you who can dehydrate yourselves ... I simply do not have time nor the "talent" for that sort of thing. Meanwhile, I thank God every day that we discovered Kona's and our little one is so happy with them!

| Are you sure the chicken strips are made in China, or the packaging is made in China? I get confused sometimes as there is nothing to differentiate between the two in some products. Sometimes, and it's rare, a package will say packaging made in China, product made in _______.
