| insect bite Hi everyone, I just noticed today after being in my backyard that Kiwi, my 7yo yorkie, was licking her left foot. I looked at it and noticed a raised red bump with a boil in the middle of it. I'm not sure if she may have gotten a bug bite while we were out in the yard. Does anyone know any remedy for this? She's licking it but not all time time. Is this a cause for concern for me to take her to our vet? Help!

My Denny suffered a bee sting yesterday. No swelling, but he was a bit anxious.....Of course administered Benadryl to counter act allergic reaction. He was a bit uncomfortable last night, so administered Metcam to combat the pain. He's all well and fine this morning.

| Watch she doesn't lick it raw... my aunt border collie had a cut on his foot, and wouldn't stop licking it raw... she had to put baby socks on it to hold the dressing so he wouldn't lick it and make it worse. we use a product called bag balm on horse insect bites, (haven't had one on harley) BagBalm - Canada not sure if it's available in US or not, but here you can buy it at walmart or any pharmacy.

| Ledum 30C is great for spider bites and other insect stings. For bee stings I recommend Apis 30C and for "animal" bites I recommend using Ledum 30C and Arnica Montana 30C. You can find these products online by googling them or at most health food stores. They are all great, fast acting safe holistic products.

| insect bite Thank you guys for all the replies! And yes, the swelling/bite has gone down to almost nothing. She still licks but no more boils, no more bumps! Yeay! I'll make note of the suggestions you all gave for the different bug bites. Out here in Cali where we live it gets pretty hot and all sorts of bugs come out especially in our yard. I'm so glad to be a part of this community where everyone helps out each other in times of need or just for sharing stories! When I do get the chance to log in I'm so glued to reading other people's stories...I love it! Thank you for making a newbie feel welcome!
