| Thunder Storms Is it normal for yorkies to run and hide durning thunderstorms? Everytime the thunder rolls Beau runs and hides, and I cant find him until the storm passes.

| It is normal for any breed. Some dogs don't pay any attention to storms, some are very upset by them Maximo isn't bothered by storms and will sleep through them at night. My other boy, Teddy, is terrified. He finds a little comfort in hiding in his tent. Some people here have said that putting a little tshirt or baby onsie on their dogs helped with fear. |

| My 12.5 year old pek hides (usually behind the toilet), my 19 month old yorkie doesn't seem to be bothered by it, and my baby of 6.5 months tries to climb my leg. The Fourth of July started the horror and now when she hears loud noises, like thunder, she panics. I try to just love and play with them to get their minds off of the noise. |

| Cookie isn't scared but if the thunder is very loud she will bark at it. My moms dogs are very scared and they try to hide, the funny thing is they start this before the thunder starts or even the rain!

No Longer a Member | I was testing Rizzo sleeping in bed with me when we got our first thunderstorm. He tried to hide under me, I was woken up by his little claws digging at my back. After that he gets to sleep in his crate, just in case of another storm. He is calm in his crate, I guess because it's his own little den so that is where he goes to if it starts storming. He is cool with fireworks though...such a little oddball! |

| Its very normal for dogs. I use to have a big Siberian Husky that was VERY afraid of thunderstorms. He use to jump on my lap cause he was so afraid...and boy, was he heavy! lol Pasquale on the other hand doesnt mind them at all. In fact, i have to pull him away from the window when one passes.

My family had an 85-pound Airedale that would hide in the bathtub during storms. Luckily her nails never did any damage to the porcelain and she never injured herself getting in or out. | |
