| How did you find your vet? Levi and I will be moving in about a month! I've started looking into finding a new vet in our new area, as his current vet will be over an hour away. I wouldn't mind driving him back for routine checkups, but should he get sick or have an emergency, I'd like to have a vet close by. But the vet-finding process is so overwhelming! So I was hoping to hear how you found your vet! Through word of mouth and recommendations from others, from online reviews...?? I have no idea!

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I found my vet through a recommendation, I googled them afterwards and couldnt find any reviews online about them but decided to go for it anyway as I trust the lady who recommended me. They turned out to be fantastic! Really nice people who actually cared about the animal and not the money Hope you find your perfect vet soon.. as Im in the UK I cant recommend you anywhere but Im sure someone from the USA will be along with a recommendation soon. Good luck.

| When my husband was younger, he had a little pom. Well one day the paperboy decided to pick him up and talk rather loudly in his face. Well Jojo got scared, jumped from his arms, and broke his leg. My husbands mom took jojo their vet. It was late one evening and the only person there was the cleaner. So she kept banging on the door til he answered. She kept asking him over and over to call someone in. He said the only thing he can do is put jojo in a small cage were he can't move around much til morning She said...like hell you can....never went back!! My husband and I take our babies to the vet hospital she goes to and has been for yrs, and we love it there!

| So for me budget and quality were the most important to me. My breeder recommended me someone, but I did some research just to check. I pretty much called all the vets in a certain radius, and asked a preset list of questions, and eliminated them based on answers.

| Trial and error. We went through four before actually finding a good one (by that I mean somebody who is willing to spend more than about 45 seconds answering questions, one who actually cares, and one that doesn't get all mad and defensive when I have concerns). It's also important to me that rx diets and vaccines aren't shoved down my throat at every visit. We have stayed with Ellie's 5th vet (always will ) and also have another one when her regular vet isn't in. He is amazing also. And then I met two or three more that I'd actually let touch Ellie. lol. I'd say come up with questions (mainly about anesthesia, required vaccines, etc.) and eliminate as many as possible that way. If they insist on things you aren't comfortable with, move on. After that, you just gotta try 'em out.

| trial and error, when i fist got my 2 yorkies 7 years ago i thought i had a nice vet,, one of the drs i liked best we went to see her and only her, my neighbors and friends aways said go toxyz i said im happy with my vet until shaffer started to have seizures,,, we had been in a few times and fond nada,, anyway my vet said if he does it again put him right in teh car and bring him right over so i did, it was about 730 am, the door was closed they open at 8, but i knocked on the side door, i explained shaffer was here few times in the last few weeks, and he needs to be seen now, she said we open in 30 minutes. I was so angry, i called my friend asked what the number to the vet was, anyway they are wonderful and have been my vet for 5 years now. they are the most expensive in my area but well well worth it. |

| Thanks everyone! I was just hoping to stumble across the PERFECT vet. I don't know any pet owners in my new area to ask for a recommendation, but have been thinking about going to local pet stores and asking the owners for recommendations and then calling/visiting the vets with questions. Guess I get to find a new groomer too. AGHHH!
