| Yorkies are picky eaters!! At first I thought my Tinkerbell was a little stinker, but after reading through this forum it seems many yorkies are picky eaters. I have tried three different brands of foods in the 4 weeks she has been home with me and I get the same response every time. She likes it great for the first 2-3 feedings and then by the end of the week she won't touch it. Sometimes I can get her to eat if I spoon feed her, but lately even that isn't working. Currenty she is eating Nature Variety Instinct, but she won't eat much of it even mixed with the wet food. I tried the raw medallions and she liked them for a short while, but now won't eat them. Should I just expect to rotate her food every 2 weeks? She weighed 2.6 lbs at 12 weeks and is now at 3 lbs at 16 weeks. My vet suggessted that I should simply remove her food after 20 minutes and that should work to get her hungry and eating better. This doesn't seem to work with Tink so last night I resorted to giving her some cooked chicken breast on top of her dry and she did eat a little better. I guess I just want to be sure that her behavior is normal. She is in perfect health according to my vet and not skinny or fat. Thanks. |

| In my personal opinion she is very normal I have the same problem. I have to camoflauge (spelling) their food. I rotate cottage cheese, chicken broth, shredded cheese, boiled boneless chicken, mac and cheese and turkey. My one yorkies will sometimes pick out the human food and leave the dog food. Smart lil booger

| Gracie was a picky eater until we had her spade. Go figure. Now she wolfs down her food. Picking up the food after a few minutes did not work. Sometimes adding cottage cheese or some kind of enticement would work, but not always. Just keep a close eye on her. Because she is so tiny she could get hypoglycemic if she doesn't eat often enough. Keep some Nutri-cal or Karo syrup on hand, just in case she does.

| Yorkies are Picky Eaters! My Cassie has been and is still a picky eater even after her 1st birthday! I have to constantly change wet foods every week to make sure she eats a little everyday! But, she is the baby |

| The thing I like best about raw feeding is it forces u to pick it up if they don't eat it right away. I put it down if she doesn't gobble it up I cover it with foil and put it back in the fridge. I noticed today that when I put it down, she came, sniffed, and walked away. I grabbed for the foil, ripped off a piece, I swear she knew the sound and she changed her mind and ate it. What a stinker!! i am thinking about buying the nature variety kibble and can just so she has a variety and doesn't get tired of the same thing everyday. She only likes the chicken flavor. It's a little to expensive to buy different flavors for her not to eat, hence the beef flavor in my freezer. Do they get tired of the same thing?? These kids ... gotta luv em!!!! |

| Never in 50 years of having dogs have I ever had a picky eater.......but I home cook. It seems the small dogs that eat dog food are pickier than the large breeds for some reason. Maybe because most people that have large dogs don't keep food down all the time, they just put in down a couple times a day.

| Lizzy has never been a picky eater, but I also mix a little, like a tablespoon, of wet food in with her dry. I probably give her a tablespoon and a half to two tablespoons of dry food, depending on how she looks. I just can't feed dry food alone. Plus, in a breed that has notoriously bad teeth, as does my other breed of choice, IGs, I brush their teeth regularly.
