| Pet Insurance? I'm debating on if I should get Pet Ins for Fynnlie. It's not terribly expensive and it covers just about ANYTHING. Most of the companies reimburse you for 80% of what you pay out of pocket. Which out be really good to have it something bad happened - heaven forbid. I just wanted to get some feedback. ALSO: Should I get him microchipped?

| Definitely get him microchipped!!! Also I have petplan and am happy I have dog insurance just in case anything happens- there is a great article here on yorkietalk about pet insurance- that's what helped me pick petplan. Financially I would never want to worry about taking him to the vet because of money so I invested in insurance but I'm sure it's based on personal opinion- i myself like to have a back-up. Good luck and keep us posted. |

| Sweet! I'll go look for that article! Thanks for letting me know! I've already made the appointment to get him microchipped, I just wanted to make sure it was a good idea!

| I have trupanion dog insurance and I am sooooo glad that I got it on my 2 yorkies. They pay 90% and I have no co pay either. I just pay a monthly payment. Plus when I send in my invoice to them I always get a check with 4 to 5 days and that is super fast. They are very nice too and will answer any questions you may have. |

| Microchip - Yes & make sure you send in the registration information & always update it each time you move or change your phone number! Pet Insurance - Definitely...unless you are independently wealthy and can afford the thousands of dollars any toy breed such as a Yorkie can rack up in a blink of an eye! I can't tell you how many times a stray dog is turned into a shelter or rescue and they are microchipped but, the owners never filled out the paperwork to register their dog with the microchip company. Or, how many times an owner is unprepared for the cost of vetting that can & will arise for their pets and when a real financial disaster strikes they are forced to surrender their dogs so that rescue can afford them the care their pet requires. Two very simple and relatively inexpensive things that could keep your animal safe and so often overlooked!

| you can get a free quote from Hartville here: PET INSURANCE They pay 80% and you can use them with any licensed vet in the US or Canada. There is also a 10% discount for multiples which is handy for me with 5! |

| I'm looking between three, Trupanion, Pet Plan and Dog Ins through Hartville. This is so confusing, it nearly breaks my brain. I just need someone to decide for me, lol.

| Definately microchipped. I just got Trupanion. The reason I chose it was the 90% coverage (and copays can be anything you want) of almost everything except pre-existing conditions plus they don't raise the rates as the pups get older. Most other companies I checked had increasing premiums as the dog gets older. |

| This is all really making my brain hurt. I'm trying to go through and really look at the different types of insurance out there; looking into this, reading reviews on that. Ugh, I feel explody. VPI looks good, except for their four pages of breed specific things they do NOT cover. Trupanion looks good except it is MAINLY only for kittens and puppies! PetCare doesn't follow up on claims and is more than likely going to 'deny' a claim based on 'possible preexsisting conditions.' PetPlan likes to run you in circles. UGH.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I got PetPlan for Pfeiffer. PetPlan covers hereditary conditions, btw, so that's def something to compare. For Wylie and Marcel, it's too late for insurance at this point (to be cost effective). Here is a great article about Ins: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...rifaj-dvm.html

| After reading that entire article, I've decided on PetPlan. I had been leaning towards them since the beginning and after reading all Dr. Terifaj has had to say and all the research they've done, I'm pleased with my choice. I'm still going to call and talk to them, find out some of my own questions. But, essentually, I'm going to pray that I pay the money out of pocket every month and never have to use it. Thanks so much, Wylie's Mom! I really appreciate that link!

| Thanks! I love his name, too! Fynnlie is going to be a Therapy Dog so I'm getting the Gold Plan with the (haven't decided) 100 or 200 deductible. I'm thinking about getting him a friend and I wanna get a girl and name her Fairfaerryn. Call her Fae.
