| Heartworm Medicine/Prevention Hi Penny had her first checkup since coming home Sunday. She past with flying colors I guess you could say. Her knees are good, her heartbeat is beating how it should. Her stool came back negative for any worms. The vet gave me three vials of Panacur...one vial once a day for three days. Have any of you given your yorkie Panacur? If so, any side effects? Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Great health check! Panacur is pretty common, but what did the vet say it was for if the stool check was negative? Also, are you asking about heartworm meds? Bc panacur isn't for that .

| Yes we have used it and did have some vomiting. It was fine though. But as Ann said, that isn't for heartworms.

| OOPS! I goofed when I typed up my thread. Don't know why I put heartworm in the title. Panacur is a dewormer from what I understand, used to treat hookworms, roundworms, whipworms. Penny's stool came back negative for anything, but the vet gave me the Panacur to give to her over a 3 day period anyway. It was for prevention purposes? I called her breeder and he didn't know why she would need it, being her stool negative. He's supposed to call me Monday after he talks to his vet. I'm glad I called him! I was so worried about giving this to her with the side effects (vomiting, diahrrea) it has, if she didn't need it. Amy and Penny |
