| Not Eating Food From His Dog Bowl? My one year old yorkie, Bear, keeps scraping his dog food out of his bowl with his paw and eating it off the floor. He has done it since he was a puppy, and I don't know if this is something yorkies do a lot...or if I can get him to stop.

| My two often do that - for some reason they think they shouldn't be eating out of dog bowls.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Gosh does that sound familiar. My Emma takes her paw and pulls out the pieces she wants to eat first, and everytime she gets a piece she walks away from the bowl to chew it up. She gets plenty of exercise while she eats. LOL YorkieProud MY YORKIES ARE WAY SMARTER THAN SOME HUMANS I'VE MET!! |

| All of my 5 do that and I guess it's a behavior from way back when Yorkies were still wolves and had to fight for their share of the prey. They tore a piece out of the carcass and went to a save place to eat it... |

| All four of mine do that. The 80lb mutt Bear takes a mouthful and walks all the way into the kitchen (food bowls are in the open pantry) where he opens his mouth, drops it all over and eats it all off the floor. Baxter does the same with smaller mouthfuls. The yorkies? HAH.. one piece at a time. Carry it all the way into the living room. Stand and crunch it then run all the way back through the kitchen to the pantry, get another piece, run back to the living room to stand and eat it. Then sometimes, Baby will take one piece bring it to the living room, place it on the floor, station herself 8" away from it and wait for someone to try to take it. At which point she'll snatch it and run. She does this just to antagonize the other residents. She'll do this with cookies or anything to torture them. Just set it down. And lay just out of reach and wait.

| The thing is Bear doesn't run off with a bite of kibble; he just eats it where he had pushed it out of the bowl...only with special treats does he run off into the other room or under our couch. Sometimes, he won't even eat it out of the bowl, and we have to feed it to him. -_-'
