| Why won't my Yorkies hair grow? Hi all I have a female Yorkie and the hair on her head and the front half of her body will not grow over and inch? So weird...the back half of her body grows quite long. I am baffled. Any help would be appreciated. =)

| It is either genetics or she is rubbing and breaking off her hair. Without photos we just do not know for sure. Clothing can also cause coat hairs to break. Last edited by topknot; 07-04-2010 at 05:43 AM. |

| Well, after the suggestion to look up "Red Legged Yorkies" I did so and I am quite certain that is what she is. She rarely wears clothes and she doesn't rub herself to wear off her hair. I will try and take a picture of her and post it today. She is an adorable little dog. She has the most beautiful face. is such a mommas girl. I just really wanted her coat to grow long. On her head her hair is maybe only an inch long and the same for the first half of her body. The mid to back section will grow to about 4". It looks kinda silly so I am thinking of trimming the rest of her coat. Her coat never mats or tangles. She is black and a reddish tan in color. Thank you for the info! =)

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Roxy's hair is very fine, thin & silky... doesn't mat. Her hair doesn't grow much at all... now 19 mo. It seems to be thicker than it was, but just doesn't grow. The good part is it saves me a lot of grooming bills or grooming her myself. All I have to do is baths & brushing. Originally I wanted a full long coat, but have grown to like her the way she is. Her hair is long enough to relax with her & finger comb her hair. We are both content. All she seems to need is occasional trim of her bangs & butt trims which I do myself. I've read that fine silky hair doesn't often really come in until about 2 yo. Maybe she'll surprise me yet.

| Hi all, so I am about to post a picture of Navy taken about two weeks ago where you can see how short her hair grows. She's just over a year old now. Whats strange is to look back at pics of her from last Xmas and her hair was so much longer. What does anyone think of that? Was that just a longer puppy coat she shed? Well shoot it won't let me post the pics here says they are too big so I will ad them to my regular album. Check them out. Thanks

| My little boy has a beautiful thick coat that has stopped growing. It is just the perfect length and I have to say that I love it too. My last ones hair grew so fast that I was always having to groom him. Snickers hair is very shiny, silky and straight. I don't really even have to brush it after a bath. When he was about 4 months old his coat would get very greasy and smelly, he needed to be bathed 2 times a week. Now he is good for 2 weeks at a time. I think he may be red legged. |
