Are the extras in the DS plus ok for Yorkies? Two of ours are 6lbs+ & one is 16-17lbs??

| Cosequin DS is double strength and not appropriate for toy breed dogs. The one you need for your six pound Yorkie is the regular strength. Cosequin Regular Strength (90 capsules) |

Chews are tablets would be better. So Dasuquin is at the strong end for Yorkies too then? I've read where people on YT like this compared to the Cosequin.

On something like this, if you're uncomfortable using the stronger dose, please ask your vet. I love and trust Dr. Jeff, but he only knows my dogs and their issues. The dosage Dr. Jeff told me to use matches what I've found online for yorkies. They should have 250mg-300mg of glucosamine per day after the initial 6 week period.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I hope you don't mind my jumping in (just tell me to start my own thread...) - but I am also looking for joint supplements for Bridget since she was diagnosed with LP Grade 2-3. My vet sent home some Chondro-Flex II and told me to give her a quarter tablet a day. The ingredients in each tablet is: Glucosamine500mgSodium Chondroitin Sulfate400mgAscorbate (Manganese Ascorbate)66mgManganese10mgMSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) 99.9%)250mg Of course - she won't eat it....I've tried to crush it and mix it with her soft food - but she seems to know it's in there and won't eat it. I asked him for another recommendation and they told me Oseo Bi-flex (?). In my search for something that she will actually eat - I've read a lot of labels. Not all have everything that this one does in the same amounts. Does anyone know what is the most important part of this supplement.....I found Natures Receipe has a Joint and Hip treat http://naturesrecipe.com/recipe_detail.aspx?id=452 Glucosamine...450/mg and Chondroitin.....200/mg. that I did buy and she will eat (I've given her half a treat a day). I know there are a lot of things in there that she doesn't NEED - but I have to find something that I can actually get her to eat until I can find a pure supplement that she'll take. Any thought or suggestions are greatly appreciated????

| I would never give any medication or supplement without consulting a vet, and I would only get it from the vet.

We had used Glyco-Flex, which is what our vet recommends. We were happy with it, but the chews are costly. That's why we started looking at other options. We would of course check with our vet for any final decisions.

| I use Cosequin for cats, per my vet recommendation, it is the correct dosage for an average sized toy breed dog.; have been using it for about 7 years. It's in capsule form but, I just open it up and sprinkle it over their food.
