| Zeus doesn't like treats... What is up with that? My little Zeus doesn't like treats at all. I have been trying to reward him after he does his business outside and he can care less about treats. Is there a treat that no yorkie will refuse? He does sniff it and turns his head the other way... what is up with this? What else can I use to reward him? I even tried a little tiny peanut butter and he did exactly the same, sniff and turned it down. Also he is not playful at all. We bought him a lot of toys and he can care less about those as well. Is this normal? He is only 5.5 months so he should be all over the place playing, right? I am concerned since we are new to the yorkie world and I don't know what to expect...yet! |

| He has been with us for 3 weeks now... I just found this forum and that is why I am full of questions... Seems to me that I have a sickly puppy since all he wants to do is sleep most of the time. If I get him out of the crate he will walk around but not engage in any play whatsoever. He is looking for his bed to lay down. Getting him to eat is another issue since he nibbles a couple of food and he is done. Now this he has done since we got him Also I am noticing that he CONTINOUSLY acts like he has something on his throat that bothers him. He looks like he is going to puke several times in an hour. I think he will be going to the vet soon! Something is telling me he is not well |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | At 5 1/2 months he really should be at least a little more interested in playing and eating. He definitely sounds ill. Please take him in tomorrow. There are so many things that can be wrong with these little ones. Rhett had pneumonia when he was about 3 months old. It sapped his energy completely. We thought it was stomach issues, but on the xray for the barium swallow they found the pneumonia instead. You might want to take a video of him coughing/gagging and take that to the vets with you. Puppies, like kids, never seem to display their symptoms while they are in the doctor's office.

| He does sound like he's not feeling well. Have you taken him to the vet since he's been home for just a check up? Keep us updated on the little guy!

| Taking him to the Vet is definitely the thing to do but note that puppies sleep for about 16 to 18 hours per day. When he coughs does he sound like a goose? Because Yorkies do that to clear there throats. My Yorkies do that all the time and its perfectly normal. About treats I agree you should try different things, but some dogs aren't that interested in treats and to them some petting and some praising does a better job than treats do. Please keep us posted Maria |

| Zeus is going to the vet tomorrow since they were full today. We'll have to wait and see if something is wrong. Today he hasn't been coughing/gagging as much as yesterday so I'm ok with waiting until tomorrow. On the other hand I bought him some chewing "drumsticks" as a treat and he is so loving it! He has been for more than 2 hours chewing on the thing. At least I found something he likes I can't attach pictures of him because it says the pics are too big |

Yorkie Yakker | My Sophie refuses every treat I've ever gotten her. I spent a small fortune in the beginning and just eventually gave up trying to please her. She just doesn't LIKE that stuff, any of it. The only thing she EVER likes for a reward is boiled chicken in tiny pieces. If the piece is too big she leaves it on the floor/lawn and walks away. Fussy little girl! I get her bully bones all the time tho, she LOVES to chew! She has them scattered all over the house, hidden here and there. Even under hubby's pillow. It's hilarious. She is 16 months old and plays fetch with us several times a day. She brings the toy to our lap and whimpers and we throw. This goes on for five or ten minutes several times a day. I'd guess Zeus needs to visit his vet if you compare him to our active little Sophie. Good luck and God bless that it's nothing serious. |

| I called my 2 yorkies treat snobs, I would try and try the neighborhood dogs all love me lol, anyway I finally found a dog treat they love have not found a dog that did not love them yet. I found them at the place they get groomed at jakes dog house i think they have a website but they didnt always have them in stock so i called the company jjfuds they allow me to buy them by the case, they are made in the us by a family owned company. they kinda look like a slim jim, my dogs love them. My friends 7 year old neice came over 1 day to play with my dogs she ate one of the dogs treats and loved them also, she always asks for one whenshe comes over. lol i dont give her any but im sure it would not hurt her. When I was a kid i like this thing called doo dads. it was like a chex mix, my sister put tender viddles in it, i loved them, always said that I needed to figure out wjat box had the little mushy things I liked, when I said no buy the red box next time, then they were not in it, my sister got in big trouble but i ate and loved tender viddles for years, but they only had them in it when my sister gave me a bowl of them. LOL |
