| Unexpected peeing... My Miki is 10 mo.s old and in her first heat cycle. She is about 3 weeks into it. In the past week she has been peeing unexpectedly while people are holding her! Is this caused because of the swelling during her heat? The first 2 times she got really excited about something and just peed in their arms. Today she was sleeping in my husband's arms and peed ~ it didn't even wake her up when she did it! Is this normal??? It was quite embarrassing when the others were holding her. Any advice on this would sure be appreciated! Thank you! |

| Hi Harleychick, If it were me, I would take her to the vet. She could have a urinary tract infection. |

| It might be a uti or excitement pee. My Maggie has an issue with peeing in her sleep. She sleeps so soundly that she doesn't reazlie it and also because she was spayed early on. Her bladder has not matured with her. She also had big time excitement pee when she was a pup. We would literally throw her harness on as we were putting it on so she wouldn't pee while she was jumping to greet us. lol It was definitely a race every morning. she would also pee when we got home or when she met new people. I was holding her one day when my neighbor and I were talking at the front door one day and I heard what sounded like running water, lol, I just held her out and sure enough she was like a waterfall.

| Unexpected peeing... Thank you for you're answers.... It just seemed strange to me, because she had never done this before, (We've had her since she was 3 mo.s old) so I thought maybe it had something to do with her being in heat???? I will keep on eye on her, & if it continues more than another day or two I will get her into the vet to check for UTI. Do they need a urine sample to check for this? If so, whats the easiest way to get that!? |

| Yes, they will need a sample, getting a sample from a boy is much easier than a girl. I had them retrieve a sample. I tried but Maggie is so low to the ground that I just couldn't get there. lol Best of luck and hope all turns out well. Keep us posted.
