| Royal Canin Ok so here's where I am stuck. We are very limited with good food choices in my area. So I did get some samples of good dog foods from online. The problem is my dogs as a combo didn't like any of the foods at the same time. One would like one option while the other wouldn't touch it. My husband will not allow me to buy two different foods for the dogs. Last week on a whim I got some royal chanin from the local pet supply store about 30 minutes away from home. The only problem is its breed specific for yorkies. While I understand it's not the best food out there, until I can find a better food they both like, would it be a big problem to feed this breed specific food to my Jack Russell Terrier if its for Yorkies? Those that have used the RC in the past what foods have you tried with good results after it? I want to stick strictly to kibble foods only due to limited space when we travel and I don't want to change up the food while were gone. And I would prefer food that is located in pet supply stores in case we forget it or run out at some point while traveling. |

| I never used RC but when we did feed kibble in the past, I really liked Grammy's Pot Pie by Merrick. They deliver for free too so I never had to lug the stuff from home. Good luck!!

| the only prob is i believe it is high in protein food which cannot be the best thing for yorkies due to 38% having liver issues - what is the protein percentage on the food? |

Barney is at 23% protein, Teddy at 21%, and Daisy is on 15% as she has liver disease.

| I feed RC for one dog and Chicken soup for the dog lovers to the other two. The RC is prescription - hypo-alergenic and bag says that is 19% protein. They really like chicken soup and I have also fed merricks in the past. I just switched because it is quite pricey. Have you tried either of those?

| Royal canine I feed my group royal canine and one is a Jack Russell, four yorkies and a maltese. I asked the vet at petsmart if that was okay to allow them all to eat the same food he told me it is fine. They all do like it. |

| The YT 28 formula should be fine for your Jack Russell as well- breed specific formulas is pretty must marketing. The "Mini Adult 27" formula (appropriate for Jack Russell Terrier) is comparable. I fed RC puppy 33 when I first got my pup bc that's what she was eating. I changed to grain-free kibble (EVO, Horizon Legacy, Instinct, CORE) and have great results- but she isn't too picky when it comes to kibble. |

| Hi, My new puppy, Rosie, is on a 24% fat content, is that too high? The vet is doing a full blood panel to see if there are any liver issues. She's only 16 weeks old and no symptomss. I didn't realize there were liver issues with small yorkies, she'll only be about 3lbs |

YT 500 Club Member | I was using RC and penny liked it but i switched to Authority because its about that same price for a big bag of that then it is for the tiny bag of RC she also likes the Aut. much better and its one the list of top foods

| If the food is AAFCO approved for the lifestage of your Yorkie and JRT, then it is okay.

| My Maddie eats Natural Balance. It is available at Petco in my area. It comes in a small bite formula that she likes. Doesn't like the larger kibble of some other brands. Last edited by Maddie23; 06-03-2010 at 09:54 AM. |
