| Skin Allergies Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but not to yorkies. My yorkie is 9 years old and suffering with horrible skin allergies. Every second of the day he is chewing away at himself. Sometimes he even chews himself raw. He's fed a grain free diet (EVO), and he has been to the vet several times for his allgeries. He has been put on medication but he never seems to get better. I hate seeing him like this. We don't know what to do anymore because nothing seems to help . He's just a ball of health problems. He also has seizures. I've also been noticing signs of an inner ear infection. He's been scratching his ears, tilting his head to one side, and shaking his head. I looked and his ears and they seem clean and fine. Is it true that inner ear infections can cause deafness in dogs? I guess this is another trip to the vet. |

| Welcome to YT. What drugs have been tried? Are they food allergies or environmental? Ear scratching can also be from allergies, but the vet does need to look in them.

| I'll have to check on what medications he's had. They're environmental allergies. We went with a grain free food just to be safe. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome. One of mine has bad allergies and after grain free diets, testing and different medicines, the vet but her on Atopica. It made a world of difference in her scratching. You may want to see if your vet thinks it may be an option for your little one. I hope you can get him some relief.

| Try the new "Grain Free" California Natural Chicken or Venison - The store that you get EVO from should have it.. If it's environmental, a lot of people had a lot of success with HerbSmith ClearIQ |

| chicken is a food many allergy dogs cannot tolerate that protein but venison i would give a shot for 12 weeks if it does not have grains in it though? can you list ingredients? Minimal ingredients are best for dogs with allergies. |

| Yes, it's only been available in the last month, not all stores are carrying it or have the shelf space to carry it yet. I wish I can switch all my customers from the Normal California Natural to the Grain Free Version. |

| thanks for posting that as i thought it was new as thought calif natural was always a chicken diet so glad to know they are venturing out into venison as this may help allergy dogs and no flaxseed in it I do not believe and allergy dogs have a hard time with flaxseed too mine does. |
