| Fixing Did anyone else wait til their yorkie was older or weighed more to get them spayed /neutered? Troy will be 1 in July and I've decided to wait a while to see if he picks up more weight. It didn't sit well with me him being 6 months at 2.5 pounds and up for a neutering. He has gained a but he now is 3.1 pounds. |

I waited to do my yorkie until she was about 10 months old when she finally went over 2 pounds. I had it done before she went into heat. She did just great.. | |

| I just had Rhianna spayed in April. She'll be 2 June 1st. I waited basically because I was planning on breeding her, but due to some issues with her retaining fluid in her uterus, it had to be done. I think, either way, I would of waited because for me, personally, I was nervous about the anesthesia. At the time of her spay she weighed 7lbs. Brody has not been neutered and he's 3. The only time he marked was when Rhianna went into heat. He does have an occasional accident, but he's pretty good about going outside doing his business.

| Rachael, I waited a little longer but Sophie Kate as spayed at 8 months and she was 3.5 lbs at that time. My Vet spoke with me in detail on the benefits of having her spayed and explained exactly what she would be doing and the equipment she would be using. My suggestion is look into getting him neutered, talk with your Vet and other Yorkie Talker. It's scary but in my opinion overall it best for the dog health.
