| Why do dogs eat grass? Once and for all can you YTers tell me? Katie has been doing it. When she gets tired on a walk she will just plop down and start eating grass. I will have to literally pull her away to get her to stop. She has not thrown up, which I have heard they eat grass to throw up.

| Well mine eat it too...and they like the new, really green, fresh grass..LOL I heard they eat it because it settles their stomach. Wonder if it'll settle my stomach the next time it's upset.. Uh...I won't be finding out. Mine have never thrown up after doing it either. Good question though..who knows... Just like I wanna know what's so good about geese poop...or deer poop... ewww

| Katie only does it when she's tired. I don't know if she's actually swallowing it or just pulling it out?

| I've always wondered about this too. Ariel always eats a few when she's laying on the grass after playing outside. Maybe they're attracted to smell of grass? |

| Ariel is GORGEOUS!! My 4 stand around outside and graze like a bunch of goats every spring. My vet says that it is natures way of cleaning out their digestive and elimination tract after the winter. My big girl was doing some regurgitaing today and I have found some small yorkie regurg. If any one else has any othr ideas about this I would love to know. What the vet says makes sense though. I think I will google it and check back with what I find. |

| Both Jada and Bogie do it. They are like goats too. Every time I take them out in the yard, instead of playing they are nose to the ground grazing. They have never thrown up from eating it either. Last summer they did get tapeworms, and the vet said they probably ate fleas that were in the grass, because I have never seen a flea on either one of them.

☺Farrah☺ Donating Member | I have heard a dog will eat grass when their tummy is not feeling well. That statement has "fit" for my dogs over the years. Let me know if you think it could be true for your furbaby.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Years ago I asked my vet about it cause Chanel would eat grass then get sick - he said cats eat grass to help their tummies - dogs will get sick from it - that's just my vets opinion but I took him at his word - so I stay clear of letting mine munch - but they sure try |

| I've heard that they do it because they are lacking something in the diet. I've also heard that they do it when their tummies are upset. I think the latter is true, just the other day I know for a fact that Max had an upset tummy and he was trying to eat the grass.

so anyone who has a chewer is lucky if they aren't getting ill. I should google it - cause all this was years ago There's one place on our walks they both try to take a bite (plus I'm in an apartment now and don't trust the grass which is another reason I keep them from making a meal out of it) | |

| Why Do Dogs Eat Grass? here is some info above Dex has always eaten it when he had an upset stomach to make himself throw up Be careful of allowing her to eat grass when on walks as alot of people put fertilizer and pesticides on their grass- same thing with walking on other homes grass as dogs lick their paws.
