I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I would not use the butterscotch chips, too much sugar and fat. You really don't need to make things THAT tasty for a dog to enjoy; high fat and sugar can cause tummy problems, and diarrhea. If it's too late, I would not give over a teaspoon of it.

I only put a couple of butterscotch chips in three out of 12 cupcakes thank you for you advice! I have a question what about peanut butter baking chips? Would those also be harmful?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Lol, who's going to eat all those cupcakes? Peanut butter chips also have too much sugar, peanut butter is high in fat, but a little wouldn't hurt. Don't think like a human when designing a recipe that would appeal, dogs don't taste with their tongue they taste with their nose, and sugary products are wasted on them. Adding a little garlic powder to a recipe makes them excited, and you don't need to use any sugar and very little fat. Frosting with a small amount of cream cheese is also appealing to them, again, no sugar needs to be added. Hope he has a great birthday, but I don't want him to get a tummy ache!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I would not put butterscotch chips in cupcakes. You shouldn't substitute randomly. Very thoughtful of you to ask before giving them to your birthday Yorkie! Sugar and fat are not good for dogs. Their digestive system is so different than a ours. BTW Happy Birthday to your baby! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It depends, many strawberry yogurts have fake sugars, and even a small amount can be deadly because they damage the liver. Lots of people give unsweetened strawberry yogurt, but you have to make sure it has no artificial sugar. While real sugar isn't good for them, at least it's not deadly.

| Carob chips usually can be found at a health food store. FYI for the next batch. |

| My Joey's birthday is today! I made him peanut butter cupcakes with peanut butter frosting. I made a batch of four, and we ate one last week to test out our recipe It didn't get my boys sick, they LOVED it, and it actually tasted good (of course I had to try it too, haha). I could think of the recipe if you wanted...
